Protesters plan to rally across the US on Thursday, to demonstrate opposition to sweeping National Security Agency surveillance programs.
The events are being organized under a newly hatched organization called Restore the Fourth, named for constitutionally guaranteed protection against illegal search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment. Rallies and marches are expected to take place in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York City, Washington DC and dozens of other US cities.
Brown emphasized that the Restore the Fourth effort had attracted interest from across the political spectrum. “The first people to endorse this was Code Pink,” he said, referencing a left-leaning anti-war group. “We’ve got the Tea Party Patriots of Alameda County coming out and supporting us. One of our main other organizers worked for the socialists in California. So, we have a huge diversity of political outlook.”

Alas, the present occupant of the White House has found it very effective to play the race card every time there have rumblings of discontent, from either side of the aisle. He now has a lot of Democrats walking on eggshells, tiptoeing around, whispering, “We can’t criticize him publicly! We can’t do that! Maybe if we just talk to him privately, he’ll come around.”
Meanwhile, whenever he has something critical to say of his opponents, it’s Katy bar the door; he comes out with all guns blazing, bazookas, cannons, the works. And all the Democrats applaud, because they know his thugs are watching them to gauge their reaction! As far as I can see, no one in the Democrat Party right now wants to be seen as anti-Obama. Changing that, if it can be done, is proving to be like turning an ocean liner.
