You haven’t kept up with events. Post-Reconstruction, the Republicans were the party of the northern, urban liberals and the Democrats the party of southern conservative racists. That has changed. Maybe you could google Dixiecrats, and inform yourself of events surrounding the 1948 election.
Today the racists and southern conservatives are all Republican, and the mostly northern and urban liberal types the Democrats. LBJ, for instance. Should black voters go with today’s Republicans? Let’s see… in North Carolina a solidly Republican legislature has just repealed their Racial Justice Act. And also made serious changes in the voting laws that are widely seen as disenfranchising many black voters.

I lived in the north for most of my life. It is staunchly Republican and conservative.
I now live in the south, where it is staunchly Republican and conservative.
The entire mid-section of the country, north to south, is mostly Republican and conservative.
The left coast and the other left coast are staunchly Democrat and socialist.
Washington state, where I grew up, is (by geographical area) mostly Republican and conservative. Only the coast, and predominately the Sea-Tac area are Democrat and socialist. Just the highest of populace.
Oregon state, where I have friends, relatives and spent a lot of time, is predominantly (by geographical area) Republican and conservative. Only the coastal areas, predominantly Portland, are Democrat and socialist. Almost unanimously the people east of the coastal line are staunch conservatives (many Tea Party flags flying there).
Kalifornia, where many of my family members have now left and vow to never return, is predominantly Republican and conservative, outside of the metropolis areas. However, the conservatives in that state are fleeing at an ever rapid pace.

Actually, in recent years there have been several high-profile cases of black politicians switching from the Democrats to the Republicans, all in southern states. It’s just drip-drip right now, but eventually it will have consequences.

And it would be incorrect to say that a teenager walking back from the store was actively committing some crime, such as violently pushing or abusing drugs, or being a thief.

I am sick of Trayvon being referred to as “just a child”. Maybe in a strict legal sense, but someone 17 can be very strong and capable of doing a lot of harm. It is not at all certain whether Zimmerman had any strength advantage if attacked or the superior fighter of the two.

The 911 operator has no authority to order anyone around, they can only make suggestions. Zimmerman was NOT at home when this started and the suggestion was that he wait where he was.
I will repeat what I have said elsewhere. When we can no longer even approach strangers in our neighborhoods and ask them what they are doing there we no longer have ANY rights. This infringes on our Freedom of speech, to be secure in our homes…

His gun was in the holster right up to the time he was punched in the nose as the phone conversation between Martin and the girl indicates and the girl advised Martin to move away and he did not which also indicate he was the one who caused the confrontation since the testimony and evidence clearly show that Zimmerman was following at a distance at all times.
You forget that it was Zimmerman who alerted the police who arrived right after the shooting happened.The same Zimmerman who after getting off the phone with 911 operator was then walking back to his vehicle having lost track of Martin as he told the woman on the phone to await for the arrival of the police.

That said, this judge has been heavily biased from the get-go. After seeing the Obama Administration so easily get Chief Justice John Roberts to flip his vote over Obamacare, it would be very easy to get to a small-time judge like this to take sides.
Judges are no less ambitious than anyone else; probably more so. Dangle a federal magistracy or judgeship in front of Ms Nelson, and I think she would fall all over herself to tilt the playing field.
We are seeing Zimmerman get railroaded. In any average case, the judge would have thrown this one out due to a complete lack of evidence. The police even closed out their investigation by releasing Zimmerman, who was always in compliance with Florida law.
But stir Obama, judge Nelson, and black spokes-rousers into the mix, and the result is that Zimmerman gets sent down the river for properly defending his life — something that ‘casual observer’ and anyone else would have done under the same circumstances.

Since a mouthful is being said about the issues raised by Sunsettommy, I have a mouthful to say in return.
Tragically, there is a lot of racism and racial prejudice (I define the former as being an conscious or self-aware manifestation of the latter, which must be sub-conscious or non-self-aware to warrant application of the term) found on both sides of the conservative-liberal spectrum. However, pure conservatism as I define it states that it is self-evident that all men are created politically equal. Yes, Mogur, I consider this to be an element of conservatism, though of course it is possible for a generally liberal person to believe it as well.
Thus the true conservative does not find himself entertaining questions of inherent superiority or inferiority of races, a question that firstly has spiritual implications for all of us and thus is really not our business but only God’s; secondly is really not knowable to us due to the lack of any means of means of studying it objectively; and thirdly is ultimately not politically relevant to anything.
Moreover, for Christians, the Biblical teaching on this question is that the Bible is entirely silent on the matter, therefore Christians are signaled clearly that it is not our province to entertain such questions. The Bible does clearly indicate in Revelation 6:2-8 that each race has its own particular demon, which imparts a specific specific weakness or vulnerability toward a certain kind of sin, but it does not draw qualitative or quantitative distinction between these weaknesses. Therefore, neither should we.
You know, the funny thing about self-evident truths is that the self-evidence is in the eye of the beholder. Tragically, not everyone is certain or even aware that a self-evident truth is either true or self-evident.
For all who doubt my assertion that the self-evidence of the truth I referenced is inherently a conservative and not a liberal position, I regret that I cannot think of a way that you would find acceptable, for me to prove the assertion, because it seems to require that I first prove to your satisfaction that the United States is the only nation of the present day to have been founded on truly conservative principles, and I cannot conceive of a proof of this that would be convincing to a reader who is not already generally conservative.
For those who think that this invalidates the proposition, in a strict logical sense you may be right. However in a strict logical sense the opposite (that it is not inherently conservative or liberal) cannot be proven either. So you have two choices, either don’t talk about it at all, or if you really must talk about it (as I am of necessity doing), recognize that my proposition is at least partly faith-based — that is, it is one of those many truths out there that must be believed first before the proof can be seen. For anyone who knows, as I do, that the supernatural is real and truly does exist, there should be no discomfort with this sort of proof.
The scientific viewpoint of all this is that the Nazis and eugenicists were those who tried to establish a “scientific” method of politically and socially comparing the races. Today, the generally accepted scientific position is that there is no scientific way to do so, and that attempts to do so are therefore not science.
Finally I want to comment on political parties and race, since that issue was raised. There is no question that both major U.S. parties have a very nasty habit of exploiting people based on various group membership, including race. When done based on race, this is a form of race-baiting, and it is repugnant regardless of which party does it. Therefore honesty demands that conservatives denounce both major parties for this behavior, and I certainly do so now! This is essentially why the Founders were so skeptical of political parties. How do you denounce a party of which are a member for engaging in blatantly hypocritical behavior? The answer is of course that you can’t. By such action, you are by definition disassociating yourself from the party. And so there is a strong disincentive among party members from doing so, which is properly recognized as the so-called noble-cause corruption. Conservatives must, for the reason I have been discussing, shun the Republican Party equally with the Democratic Party for engaging in race-based exploitation and racial prejudice. To do otherwise is to let the liberal camel get its nose under the tent of conservatism. Thus to preserve conservatism, the Republican Party must be shunned for engaging in the said behavior. To associate publicly with such behavior brings conservatism into further disrepute than it already is, and can result in further loss of popular support for our principles.

A word of advice to those of us who are white and not violent criminals, do not walk through michael’s neighborhood, because if he catches you following him he feels justified in attempted murder.
