The NAACP was created to protect blacks from mob rule and lynching, but they haven’t have anything useful to do for about 40 years – and are now calling for mob rule and lynching.

My brother says that in LA, a mob is blocking the 10 fwy. That doesn’t sound like racial unrest, but more like an attempt to shut down commerce. They should probably send the entire Hell’s Angels club down the freeway toward the rioters and let the situation sort itself out. 🙂

Comical that NBC’s defense is other media outlets played up the race angle. Which of course has nothing to do with intentionally editing a tape specifically to create a racial issue. If “journalism” is about editing things to get the story you want, then that’s a lot different than what I thought it was.

      • Richard T. Fowler says:

Mike, they even have a name for it which they’re taught in journalism school. It is called “the angle” of the story, and it is either handed to you by your editor before you commence covering a story or it is strongly implied. Journalism students are taught that if they are unclear as to the angle of an assignment after reading it, they had better ask “What’s the angle” before going out the door, or it’s on them if they come back with the “wrong” angle! This has been standard journalistic practice since at least 80’s if not the mid to late 70’s. I know this from a career journalist in my close family and from having (very) briefly worked for a major newspaper myself. Neither of us have held a journalism or mass comm degree, but the culture of “the angle” was held so paramount in a mainstream news organization that you learned it real quick once on the job! (In any event, one can no longer be hired as a mainstream journalist without a mass comm degree.)

Bottom line, the editors are the greatest enemies of true journalism … because they pick the stories to run, and they decide the “angle” of each story. And it’s not negotiable by the reporters! You either accept it or you hit the road that same day.

How ignorant people are and how sad the media has created this monster where little is understood and much “known” is false.

cops are firing rubber bullets, asking for back up. Anybody suffering physical harm or property damage should join in a class action suit against NBC, and throw in Holder and the DOJ as well, and add Obama for his :if I had a son comments.
