Weekend violence leaves 9 dead, 47 shot
“Our son is dead! Oh Jesus!” the 57-year-old screamed, referring to Cortez, one of her three sons, who was killed earlier that morning on Chicago’s West Side. “Oh my God! Oh my God! We were just talking.”
At least 34 people were shot — nine of them fatally — Saturday afternoon through Father’s Day Sunday, stretching from 94th Street and Loomis Avenue on the South Side up to about North Avenue and North Pulaski Road on the Northwest Side, according to authorities. The youngest person killed during one of the bloodiest weekends in Chicago this year, 15-year-old Michael Westley, was fatally shot by a police officer Sunday night.

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer in the South Side’s Englewood neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said.Relatives identified the victim in Sunday night’s shooting as Michael Westley, as did the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
Family members rushed to the hospital after the shooting, said Niyah Lewis, who said she was Westley’s cousin.
Lewis, 32, said the shooting happened shortly after the boy had been throwing a football in front of a Father’s Day gathering at his grandmother’s home.
Westley was a high school freshman, said Irea Martin, 32, who said she was his aunt.
“We’re not talking about a 17-year-old,” Martin said. “We’re talking about a kid.”

Sorry Lady, your son isn’t going to get the Trayvon treatment from BHO & Holder, It would ruffle too many feathers with BHO’s supporters in the Police Union, and there’s no way to advance an anti-gun agenda out of your son’s death. Also it may tend to draw attention to how much of a basket case Chicago has become since the primacy of the progressives has become absolute.
This is not gun violence. It is black and Hispanic violence. Almost all those killed in Chicago and other American cities are black or brown, and almost all the killers are black or brown. The killings are often motivated by disputes over drug territories, but in Los Angeles much of the violence is done by Mexicans ethnically cleansing blacks from traditional black neighborhoods and jobs. The black population of LA County is falling.
While it is true that black/white relations are the worst they have been since the 1950s, and continually worsening, mass Hispanic immigration is bringing a new aspect to race relations. Mexico and most of Central America have no history of black slavery (and few blacks), and Mexicans and Central Americans feel no guilt over black slavery, and generally dislike blacks.
Given these conditions, it is hard to see how the civil rights legislation of now two generations ago can survive. If it does, it is only because now it serves Hispanic interests; blacks will cease being its sole beneficiary and might even cease being beneficiaries as benefits are transferred to Hispanics. It is also hard to see how the civil rights coalition can survive when its two largest constituents are at odds with one another. This conflict also has an economic base as blacks and browns are competing for the same jobs and housing. In LA, blacks are losing badly.
The immigration act wending its way through Congress (and likely to die in the House) is probably the most anti-black legislation since the slave laws of the antebellum South. If anything like it is enacted, blacks will be driven into even more extreme penury than they now experience. They will also be stripped of political power as politicians begin to curry favor with the larger and rapidly growing Hispanic bloc. What happens to the Democrat party is anybody’s guess, but its transformation into an Hispanic party is possible.
