WIC Program

I was stuck in line at the supermarket for half an hour last night, because a Mexican woman came in with some Colorado food stamps. She had seven different types of food stamps, each of which was designated for only certain food types. So the cashier had to separate the sale into seven different very complicated transactions.

The purchaser didn’t speak English, and I thanked my lucky stars for the morons in Denver who are called the “Colorado government.”

I would support food stamps only be allowed for a basic list of healthy food staples (say, all fresh fruits and veggies, milk, chicken, fish, whole wheat bread, and that’s it), but you would think that govt would come up with just one type of food stamp and tie it to bar coding.
In IL, we’re trying to get people to not use the SNAP credit card at strip joints.

I’ve witnessed that food stamps frees up a lot more money to spend on beer, such as the cartload that a Mexican guy paid for from a roll of cash while the taxpayer picked-up his food tab.

Hi John – I can buy food stamps in Chicago for 50 cents on the dollar if I wanted. The individual would escort me to any food store of my choice let me pick all the groceries and he would pay using his food stamps. I would reimburse him 50% of the total in cash after he paid for my food. This is not hypothetical this is going on and I could participate if I wanted.

My view is that there should be no stamps or debit cards and that the government should use a Peapod like private company or food pantry to deliver a sustainable amount of food that meets dietary minimums and that can be aquired directly and cheaply to be provided to those that truly need it. Voulenteers at food pantries could easily distribute food to the truly needy.

Not a bad idea. Money is still fungible but this would reduce fraud which is rampant.
        Write your Congressman?
My preference would be to eliminate the program completely and rely exclusively on private charities (e.g. churches, Bread for the Poor, Food for the Poor, etc.), but no one could accuse your plan of being uncaring for the poor.

I’m afraid the government would prefer not to focus on healthy food. The biggest campaign contributions come from the manufacturers of “convenience” food.

Besides, then the recipients would have to cook!! And who among the recipients has time for that between Teevee shows?? Why forcing the recipients actually cook healthy food might be considered cruel and unusual freebies!! And cruel and unusual freebies might cost the politicians (who buy votes with other people’s money) votes…..

Immigration processors used to have criteria whereby anyone wanting to enter the USA who was a risk for becoming dependent on welfare was labeled “undesirable” and denied entry.

The woman above fits that criteria.
That’s why she smuggled herself in.
Acceptance of this behavior will destroy this country.

It’s a little more insidious than what you might expect.

If you’ve ever wondered why the politicians have been pushing so hard for immigration amnesty, here’s a piece that will kinda explain why they are so anxious to fill their cities with Hispanics. (DC especially)

Their (politician’s) reasons are not what you’d ever expect. Nor is it politically correct for them to ever admit it either.

I have a farmer friend who has a vegetable stand and he told me a man from India who owns several convenience stores comes in a buys vegetables with food stamps. From my experience, it seems one of the requirements of getting food stamps is you must drive a late-model SUV and be fairly well dressed. The closest I’ve come to losing it was when this lady loaded up on “chicken tenderloins” at over $4 lb.

    • Mike D says:

He is maybe buying food stamps from customers at a discount, then using them at full value at your friend’s stand. Normally stores just claim the money, but I’m guessing convenience stores don’t have enough qualified food and he’s having to resort to using them so that he’s not submitting way too many food stamps.

Welcome to your future. Moochelle will make sure that they buy only HEALTHY food – unless they sell the stamps on the black market.

Food stamps are actually worsening the obesity pandemic. So we taxpayers also pay the higher medical and disability costs (though we might gain some of it back if they die young and don’t collect as much Social Security).

Americans are being used and abused.

  8. There Is No Substitute for Victory says:

The Washington polls are concerned about Hispanics now because with Democrat help African Americans are aborting their future into oblivion, thus decreasing their value to the Democrat Party. So Hispanics are now seen as the hand that rocks the Democrats’ cradle. Democrats also see Hispanics as the hands that cuts their grass, scrubs their toilets, and skims their pools. As long as there is an uninterrupted supply of poor Hispanics struggling to cross our borders the Democrat Party will remain unconcerned that these same illegal Hispanics are murdering African Americans in record numbers in an effort to both decrease competition as well as to create African free zones and a Hispanic homeland.
After all a vote, is a vote, is a vote, and at the end of the day all votes are color blind.

  9. Traitor In Chief says:

There is no need for food stamps of any kind lasting more than a few months for any recipient. Governments should not be feeding fully grown adults. Do the homeless look like Ethiopians? NO. There is no shortage of cheap food in this country. We have an obesity problem for Christ’s sake.

Ever notice that homeless guys begging for money seem to have enough cash to buy cigarettes? And they have a dog…. who doesn’t appear to be starving.

If you provide ANYTHING for free, people quit trying to figure out how to obtain it under their own power.
