Understanding Jimmy and Mikey’s Work

Briffa’s trees showed this inconvenient drop in temperatures after 1940, which didn’t suit the hockey stick product requirements which Mikey had been tasked with.

Briffa’s trees showed the same post-1940 drop as the 1975 NCAR and National Academy of Sciences’ graphs, as shown below.

The next graph shows the NCAR temperatures overlaid on Briffa’s trees. Almost perfect!

But that didn’t suit the product requirements which Jimmy and Mikey were working on, so Jimmy created a new surface temperature record which didn’t look anything like the National Academy of Sciences or NCAR records, while Mikey chopped down Briffa’s trees and spliced on Jimmy’s new surface temperature record.

Presto!  A hockey stick which had nothing to do with reality. Just what the doctors ordered.

Too bad the IPCC wasn’t so clever in 1990.

Does Michael Mann think he is going to be remembered by history as a great scientist or the greatest teller of fairy tales this world has ever known? How does he sleep at night? Does he have a conscience? I don’t think so. He should give back the Nobel Prize that was ‘awarded’ to him. LOL 🙂

“How does he sleep at night?”

He puts his ill gotten cash in a pillow case, places it under his warped head, and sleeps like a burped baby.

  3. There Is No Substitute for Victory says:

Mann is still looking for the sale slip for his Nobel Prize so that he can get a refund.

Most people do not realize the importance of the hockey stick to the alarmists cause.

Before Mann’s hockey stick, the temperature increase due to a doubling of CO2 was about 1.1 degree C. (Even this was exaggerated) And there was plenty of data showing the MWP, RWP and Holocene. But with Mann’s hockey stick, the MWP, RWP disappeared.

Now the alarmists could claim all kinds of feedbacks were going to burn up the planet. Never mind we’d been there before and nothing happened. With the hockey stick the alarmists could claim anything.

Wegman and McIntyre showed how bad the hockey stick was. None of the alarmists wanted to believe them. To believe that the hockey stick was false would have been too much of a blow to their religion.

In the Climategate e-mails, several climate scientists admitted to each other that they were unfair to McIntyre and his work. Of course, they never admitted this in public. Or did much to discredit the bad science and reference the good. Other e-mails showed some climate scientists were leery of how vindictive Mann was when it came to not supporting his “science”. All fits together pretty neatly.

  5. Andy DC says:

These climate scientists today are FAR more advanced than those in 1975, as well as the climate models they run in reverse to determine the past.

A large amount of the 2009 hacked (or whatever) emails showed the resentment the “the team” had for M & M — McIntyre and McKintrick. I have followed Climate Audit (McIntyre) for a long time without the where with all to contribute much, but to learn a lot. I have tried to compare his analysis with the boys at real climate – Gavin Schmidt et al. I have not once found that McIntyre was anything but spot on and real climate, well, lacking.
