According to the Navy, the Canadian and Alaskan Beaufort Sea coast is abutted by thick ice.

The intrepid rowers of course drove around that part in their truck. Their location is pointed to by the red arrow.

    Hi Steven,
Still lots of gung-ho noises being made about the N.E. Passage

The Financial Times reports that, as of Friday, 204 ships had received permits this year to ply the Northern Sea Route, which connects East Asia to Europe via the waters off of Russia’s northern coast. Last year, just 46 vessels made the trip. Two years ago, the number was four.

Heads up – they’re making a run for it around the cape!!!

    • I think they are about to get into trouble, as they have to turn into a 13 MPH wind now.

      • Anto says:

Well, they’ve put it all on the table. There’s no place to hide now until they get around the tip. From the look of that tracker, it’s been hard going. They’ve been rowing for 12 hours and have only made it about halfway.

  4. Fred from Canuckistan says:

The boys seem to enjoy rowing around about 50 yards from shore. They might be able to avoid the ice as long as are happy rowing in circles in sheltered bays.

  5. Latitude says:

in three more days it’s going to be August…
….they’re not going to make it

  6. Brad says:

“It was a success.” The team proclaimed. “Although we didn’t make the NW Passage, we brought attention to the crisis in the Arctic and the melting ice cap which will be calamitous for humanity and life on the planet Earth.” Reggie added, “Thanks to Mainstream Energy for sponsoring our successful travers of a tiny portion of the NW passage. Catastrophic Man Made Global warming is here, it’s now, it’s real.”

    Yep. That’s it.

    • Michael Spencer says:

Unbelievable tripe! (Not your comment Brad …)

And there are thousands of ‘true believers’ who will lap this up, despite the fact that the ice is blocking their way.

      It’s good old-time religion!

And now, let’s sing a hymn to Gaia!

  7. Anto says:

Looks like they’ve given up for the day.

  8. Okie says:

They can see the NW Passage from their rowboat.

  9. Chewer says:

The progressive gene is working wonders with these lads.
They would do the world a favor by providing dinner for one of the world’s threatened species, the polar bear-:).

  10. Traitor In Chief says:

So they’ve thrown in the towel?

They should have asked the Frenchman for a tow….

What happened to Reggie’s blowtorch? All blow and no torch?
