Imagine the horrors if all that silicon from old electronics got back in the ground!
I wasn’t clear at first how to recycle electronics, but I figured it out.
Another environmental law which came into effect on July 1 requires that you drive to Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Kansas or New Mexico to purchase magazines for your rifle.
I don’t think the intent is to prevent silicon from going into the ground, but the lead and other heavy metals that are embedded in it.
What actually happened though I’m sure is that they realized they could sell this stuff to china and make big $
The mountains of Colorado are full of lead and heavy metals. We even have a town named Galena. PbS

In California, regular batteries are considered hazardous waste and can’t be thrown away. Of course you have to drive far away to find a place that will accept them.

Check out metal recycling. In Mn I get 8 cents per pound for lead storage batteries.

Looking at the banner declaring a new law, someone STILL has a problem with unnecessary apostrophe’s – “RADIO’S”. I thought that stupid trend where everything ending in “s” had to have an apostrophe finished in 2000? They’re clearly still living in the 90’s.
Best Buy will take and ‘recycle’ electronics and appliances, you simply drop them off and then it’s their problem.
They started that a few years back for us too. Built a big expensive plant to do the “recycling” only to find out that it couldn’t pay for itself from the recovered metals and operate withing stringent standards. Mission Impossible.
Ironically our taxpaying sheeple believed there was magic recycling going on, you shove shit in and out pops precious metals. None of them understand how it is done by consuming fossil fuel and nuke generated electricity to power huge crushers, sorters and smelters and other stuff.
Then, after I believe just two years, they stopped requiring junk TVs and computers and other stuff to be separated. It is in limbo now while they figure out how to pay for recycling. The only thing they require separate are those tiny batteries in hearing aids and stuff.
BTW: I manually recycle computer parts like that power supply above since I build systems and always need parts. Out of that thing I would grab the fan, fan guard, fan screws, ferrite chokes, fuses, heatsinks, IEC AC plugs, assorted switches and connectors, the external wiring harness ( nice for splicing and creating other extensions and Y connectors ).
