The Washington Post says the Arctic is “super-hot.”

During times when cold air is dipping very far south and bringing snow to the Sahara Desert, portions of the Arctic will necessarily be warmer than “normal.” The cold air in the Arctic is necessarily being replaced by warmer air from the south, and vice versa.

These are fundamental principles of conservation of mass and energy, which scientists have understood for a very long time. It has nothing to do with carbon dioxide or “global warming.”

Cherry picking one spot in the Arctic is not science.

Their claims of Arctic ice loss are completely fraudulent. Arctic sea ice extent is essentially identical to what it has been in all recent years on this date, and is growing very fast.

Huge amounts of new ice have grown over the past week – a week when experts said the Arctic was hot.

NOAA claims there was a massive decline in snow cover.  This claim is wildly fraudulent. Autumn snow cover was second highest on record this year.

NOAA claims that Greenland is losing ice.  Greenland is actually gaining ice at a record rate during autumn 2016.

Greenland is having their coldest December since 1982. Greenland temperatures are almost 20F colder this month than 1932.

NOAA claims that Earth is warming at a record rate in 2016. The exact opposite is true. Over the last nine months, Earth has been cooling second fastest on record.

I’ve already had the pleasure of taking down one fake climate news article from Brian Kahn today, and he has returned for round two – claiming that Antarctica is heating up and melting down, due to “carbon pollution.” He says it could raise sea level ten feet.

Only problem is, the article is fake news. NASA’s top climate expert said in 2004 that Antarctica had cooled significantly in recent decades.

In summary, Antarctica is cooling and gaining ice. The loss of ice in West Antarctica has been going on for centuries, and “has nothing to do with climate.“

Brian Kahn propagates misinformation out of context, draws unsupportable conclusions from it,  and boldly passes his nonsense on to the public.
