James Hansen is nuts, but he probably believes some of his own BS. Gavin Schmidt on the other hand appears to have no shame or integrity. His claims of record heat while ignoring contrary data, represent the biggest fraud in science history.

Gavin actually does both. He cools the past and warms the present, and has managed to nearly triple 1880-1980 warming over the past 15 years – through good old-fashioned data tampering.

The year 1927 brought the worst floods in US history, and the worst floods in Vermont history. It also brought the hottest September 15 on record in the US.

September 15 temperatures have plummeted in the US over the past 90 years.

On September 15, 1927 almost the entire eastern half of the US was over 90F, with Pennsylvania, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee Virginia, and most of the rest of the south all over 100F. Temperatures this hot in mid-September are incomprehensible now.

Prior to 60 years ago, 100 degree weather in the US was quite common during September. During the early 1950’s almost one fourth of the US would reach 100 degrees sometime during September.  During September 1939, 40% of US stations reached 100F during September. But since 1955 the US has seen little September hot weather, with 100 degree weather mainly confined to the desert southwest.

Wait till I post the heatwave data of September 29, 1953. It will blow you away.

September 14 temperatures have plummeted in the US over the past 90 years.

I keep driving home the point that September used to be a very hot month in the US. On this date in 1939, a spectacular heatwave covered the eastern half of the US, with Indiana reaching 107 degrees. Temperatures this hot are incomprehensible now.

The Arctic melt season was several weeks shorter than normal this year, and the ice is growing very rapidly.

One reason for this is that the people measuring the ice are missing large areas of ice. Note there is not supposed to be any ice near Alaska.

However, satellite imagery shows that there is plenty of ice near Alaska, at concentrations slightly lower than 15%. That means the water is cold in those regions and will freeze up quickly.

Glaciers in Greenland have been growing for several years. Gavin Schmidt at NASA says the last few years have been the hottest years ever.

In 1939, Greenland glaciers were rapidly disappearing, and facing catastrophic collapse.
