General Warrants
On Thursday night, I drove to the gas station and was listening to a show on C-SPAN radio about NSA data gathering phone metadata. A lawyer (not sure who she was) said that it was illegal, and cited that the American Revolution was largely fought over the use of “general warrants” by the British – i.e. fishing expeditions to find evidence of any breach of the law, without probable cause.
A few minutes later I was pulled over by a cop, who told me that one of my tail lights was out. He then made me wait for 10 minutes while he went back to his car and tried to dig up evidence of anything he could charge me with. Eventually he gave up and issued me a warning for the tail light.

More Evidence That Time Began In 1979
Climate scientists love 1979, and normally begin their graphs there – because it was the coldest winter in US history and had peak Arctic sea sea ice. I am often accused of cherry-picking for including data prior to 1979.

Frequency Of 40ºC Days Plummeting Over The Past Century
Before 1960, afternoons over 40ºC (104ºF) were fairly common in the US, but they rarely happen any more.

Young Dreamer Update
President Barack Obama says that he has terrorists “on the run.” What he didn’t say was that the ISIS young dreamers were running towards our open southern border.
Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) (AFP) – King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has warned that the West will be the next target of the jihadists sweeping through Syria and Iraq, unless there is “rapid” action.
“If we ignore them, I am sure they will reach Europe in a month and America in another month.

Arctic Sea Ice Area Up 54% From 2012 – Up 5% From 2013
Arctic sea ice area is just below the 2006 minimum, 5% ahead of last year, and 54% ahead of 2012. My forecast is for little change over the next week.

What Will Be Their Excuse This Year?
Faced with a series of very cold winters, climate experts decided to make up some bullshit about missing ice in the Eastern Arctic causing Rossby waves, which made the thing of the past fall in the deep south.
They can’t use that excuse this year because there is lots of ice in the Eastern Arctic, and the team will have to come up with some other sciency sounding gibberish to fool their cult of useful idiots with.

There has been almost no change in Arctic sea ice over the past two days. Green shows gain, red show loss.

Washington Post : Koch Brothers Controlling The Climate Again
The first installment of The Post’s laudable “A Climate for Change” series of editorials pointed out that the debate on climate change has “devolved” and cited a number of reasons why Congress has failed to take action to reduce carbon emissions [“The certainty of climate change,” Aug. 25].
The editorial failed to mention one other key reason: The Koch brothers, Exxon Mobil and other fossil-fuel interests have bankrolled a multimillion-dollar campaign to confuse the public about the reality and seriousness of man-made global warming. The news media have played a role in spreading this disinformation. Since the early 2000s, news organizations have provided a platform for fossil-fuel-industry-funded think tanks, advocacy groups and politicians to make spurious claims about climate science. Reporters have relied on these public officials and groups to provide the “other side.” There is no other side.
How to change the climate on global warming – The Washington Post
The Koch Brothers must be using their money to pay Gaia to not produce any warming for the past 17 years, because I am still waiting on my first paycheck.
