Arctic Melt Opens Northwest Passage

Climate models had projected the passage would eventually open as warming temperatures melted the Arctic sea ice—but no one had predicted it would happen this soon.

“We’re probably 30 years ahead of schedule in terms of the loss of the Arctic sea ice,” said Mark Serreze, a senior scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder, Colorado.

It isn’t going to be open this year, as it is clogged with multi-year ice. According to Hansen, Amundsen navigated the Northwest passage during the coldest years on record.

New York used to suffer regular severe droughts prior to the 1970s, including a nearly catastrophic one during the 1960’s. They almost never have droughts any more.

They say that Cantor got killed in a Republican primary because he wasn’t enthusiastic enough about his support the creation of 11 million new Democratic voters. That makes sense. Google News highlighted this as their #2 story.

Meanwhile, Ann Coulter explained what really happened.

The authors of this study have absolutely no clue what future temperatures will be, much less what their effect will be on droughts and floods along the Indian Ocean.

The US starts with Ghana, who knocked them out of the last two World Cups. Then they face Germany and Portugal. Look for a quick return flight from Brazil.

Columbia, Maryland where I currently live is an amazing place. The city was master planned to leave open space and bicycle trails everywhere. I never have to get in my car around town, and everywhere I go I travel through beautiful forests and along lakes.

One of my favorite places is along the trail to the gym. There is a big cut in the forest for a power line. At night, the sky is lit up like the Fourth of July with fireflies.

Another great thing in my neighborhood is that I don’t have to put up with neurotic white folk who want to save the planet, because there are almost no other white people. People from other cultures don’t waste their lives worrying about things infinitely larger than themselves which they have no control over.

During the summer of 1934, not only was the US savaged by drought, but so was much of the rest of the planet.
