Cracked Brains

The White House is using pictures of mud cracks in California to scare people into giving up low cost energy and energy security.

Here is the same picture from eighty years ago in England. (Alarmists currently blame rain in England on global warming.)

An Epidemic Of Pandering

I see all kinds of brilliant comments from conservative politicians and journalists today

Yes, the climate is changing, but we don’t know if it is man made

Obama is using the increase in extreme weather as an excuse to wage war on coal

Those are exactly the sort of dimwitted comments which Obama is hoping for.

The climate is just like it always was. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, and brainless in Washington.

1974 State Of The Climate Report – Global Cooling Will Kill Us All

The White House released their state of the climate report today, saying that global warming was going to cause floods, famines, extreme weather, and will kill us all.

This comes almost exactly 40 years after the government wrote a state of the climate report saying that global cooling was going to cause floods, famines, extreme weather, and would kill us all.

Shock And Awe

I have been overwhelmed by the generosity of readers over the last 24 hours. My son explained it to me :

People who read your blog are really smart, and smart people often have lots of money.

I’m planning to send a personal thanks to everyone who is donating, but the list is long and taking longer than expected.

I quite literally wouldn’t have made it to my next contract without your help. Thank you so much for your support.

World’s Top Alarmist Says The Exact Opposite Of The White House

The White House says droughts are getting worse in the US. They have no idea what they are talking about.

Whither U.S. Climate?

By James Hansen

Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up. And 1988 was a temporary inconvenience as compared with repeated droughts during the 1930s “Dust Bowl” that caused an exodus from the prairies, as chronicled in Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath.

Guardian Reader Sums Up The Mendacity Of The Guardian

Something about global warming makes liberals lose control of their faculties.

What most amazes me is that properly skeptical Guardian readers rightly distrust almost everything government leaders say, yet on this one issue most seem to accept that fine measurements and precarious predictions made by scientists largely funded by government are totally trustworthy. It’s an astonishing suspension of the critical faculty.

Occasionally and more by luck that judgment, government people do tell the truth; but the general and very reliable rule is that if they move their lips, they lie. When, as here, a fine judgment is called for, the safe assumption is that the Establishment has it wrong.

To buck it is risky. One of my favorite scientists is Giordano Bruno. For his impertinence in opposing Establishment scholars of his day, he was burned to death on a stake.

Arizona Summers Getting Cooler

The number of 100 degree days in Arizona is down about 50% since the 1950’s

I attended Arizona State University during the 1970’s, and in the summer of 1974 we had the worst heatwave in Arizona history.

Corn Belt Summers Getting Much Cooler

The White House threatened Americans with a longer growing season today.

The changes could …  lead to a lengthened growing season in the Midwest … according to the report

No doubt the thought of higher productivity and lower food prices scares socialists everywhere, but the only problem is that it isn’t true. Summers are getting much cooler in the midwest. The closest HCN station to Chicago is at Aurora, which has about half as many 90 degree days now as it did in the late 19th century.

No Global Warming Since The Kyoto Treaty Was Rejected

In October, 1997, Bill Clinton called Al Roker to the White House to help push global warming alarmism, in an attempt to pass Kyoto.

Bill Clinton, Barack Obama weather deja vu

The stars of meteorology were aligned as the White House made its case on climate change.  NBC’s Al Roker was there, along with more than 100 national and local television weather forecasters — some of them doing their TV hits from the White House lawn. They met with the president and his advisers. And the administration hoped the broadcasters’ popular appeal would help sell the public on the need to take action on global warming

No, that wasn’t the big climate-weather outreach that the Obama White House held on Tuesday. It was a quite similar event that the Clinton White House held in October 1997, as that administration was preparing for discussions of a global climate agreement in Kyoto, Japan.  But yes, Roker was invited both time

Kyoto was unanimously rejected by the Senate, and since the last Al Roker global warming event 17 years ago, global temperatures have fallen nearly 0.1 degrees.
