NSIDC cleverly starts their graphs in 1978, the year of peak Arctic ice. This creates the impression that there is a linear downwards trend.

What NSIDC is hiding is that there were satellite measurements much earlier than 1978, which showed that 1978 was the peak ice extent. The graph below is from the 1995 IPCC report. I added the red circle to show NSIDC’s misleading start date.

Note that 1974 had about the same anomaly as the current value (top graph) indicating that there has been no long term change in Arctic sea ice extent through the entire satellite record.

Most people who made it past high school would understand that you can’t claim a linear trend based on a plot of one leg of a cyclical function.

It has been 25 years since Hansen predicted the demise of polar sea ice. Gaia has celebrated the date by producing the most polar sea ice in the last 25 years.

Look for the world’s top climate experts to blame the cold weather in the US and Europe on missing sea ice.

Time to end the denial. A couple of bloggers have made up some spectacular nonsense, and that is all the evidence we need to give up our money and freedom.

A Google search for  kiribati drown produces about 2,740,000 results.

This is a heart rending story. Too bad no one reporting on this has an IQ over 30, and they can’t look up the tide gauge data for themselves.  Sea level has been falling at Kiribati over the last 20 years.

In the 1990 IPCC report, the Medieval Warm Period was much warmer than the late 20th century.

But in the 2001 IPCC report, the Medieval Warm period disappeared and became much cooler than the late 20th century.

By pure coincidence, in the year 1995 the IPCC made a decision to make the Medieval Warm Period disappear.

The US used to get hit by nearly three category 4 or 5 hurricanes per decade, but now they almost never occur. The last one was Charley in 2004.

Hurricanes used to hit the US almost every year, but in recent years hurricanes have been much less common. The US was hit by at least one hurricane every year from 1938 to 1950, and again from 1952 to 1961.  By contrast, there were no US hurricane strikes in 2006, 2009, 2010 or 2013.
