Things Are Much Safer Now For Children

Almost everything we did as kids in the 1950s and 1960s for fun would get children in serious trouble now.

Society now protects children by stifling and frustrating all their natural instincts. This is producing a lot of mentally unbalanced teenagers, who are giving back to society the same madness which they received.

LANLOverview.pdf

One out of every six days in Los Alamos has a thunderstorm, and they are often accompanied by hail. I grew up there and remember it quite clearly.

Alarmists come to this blog and claim that hail is unusual in New Mexico, because they are either completely incompetent or dishonest.

1940s Hail Left A Lasting Impression On Los Alamos Bomb Maker

Life at Wartime Los Alamos

Here are a few of my outstanding memories:

On a hike, seeing a tree blown to kindling wood by lightning. Lightning at Los Alamos? Tell me about it! This was poignant, because just the day before the talk we experienced the fiercest lightning storm any of us had ever seen. Drenching rain and frequent lightning and hail. They said later there was 1.9 inches of rain, in less than an hour.

I doubt I have enough fingers and toes to count all the times I nearly got fried by lightning on the golf course in my youth. Waiting for the hail to melt was a standard part of the July/August golfing experience.

Largest Hailstone In New Mexico History

In June 1981 I was working as a wilderness ranger in the Sandia Mountains just outside Albuquerque. Two hang gliders were preparing to take off as a thunderstorm built up. We warned them not to go, but they didn’t listen. One of them got taken up to 40,000 feet and landed in a tree frozen solid 10 miles away.

We watched Chris fly down the front face of the mountains. He was obviously scared and stayed just above the rocks, to keep out of the updraft. We also saw Bob disappear in the clouds.

New Mexico gets lots of hail because of the frequent summer thunderstorms which top out at high altitudes.

Hail ranks as the most frequent type of severe weather in New Mexico, and it is responsible for a considerable percentage of property and crop damage.

Obama Unites America

Obama has succeeded in getting Code Pink, the Tea Party, and socialists working together.

Restore the Fourth protesters stage rallies against NSA surveillance San Francisco protest to target Senator Dianne Feinstein as part of demands for reform of Patriot Act across the US

Protesters plan to rally across the US on Thursday, to demonstrate opposition to sweeping National Security Agency surveillance programs.

The events are being organized under a newly hatched organization called Restore the Fourth, named for constitutionally guaranteed protection against illegal search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment. Rallies and marches are expected to take place in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, New York City, Washington DC and dozens of other US cities.

Brown emphasized that the Restore the Fourth effort had attracted interest from across the political spectrum. “The first people to endorse this was Code Pink,” he said, referencing a left-leaning anti-war group. “We’ve got the Tea Party Patriots of Alameda County coming out and supporting us. One of our main other organizers worked for the socialists in California. So, we have a huge diversity of political outlook.”

President Johnson Also Thought He Controlled The Climate

President Lyndon Johnson was best known for being the most liberal member of the Senate, before he created the welfare state and started the Vietnam War.

Like Obama, Johnson also thought that he controlled the climate.
