“There should be an investigation not of the personal behavior of General Petraeus and General Allen, but of what surveillance powers the F.B.I. used to look into their private lives,” Anthony D. Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union, said in an interview. “This is a textbook example of the blurring of lines between the private and the public.”

I haven’t heard any indication that Petraeus did anything wrong. Having sex is not a crime. The whole thing is a smokescreen.

Experts argue global warming’s impact on Sandy’s unusual path to N.J.

It wasn’t supposed to happen. That’s what the weather experts kept saying immediately before, during and after Sandy smacked New Jersey in the face. Not this far north, they said, not in autumn, and certainly not this bad.

New Jersey was hit by a category 2 hurricane in October, 1878

Which is why the global warming finger-pointing that usually begins after a natural disaster, preceded this one. But six weeks before Sandy was even a specter threatening the Caribbean, Rutgers scientist Jennifer Francis — not your normal climate change Cassandra — issued a warning during a teleconference call on global warming.

The melting ice caps, she said, appeared to be tied to recent extreme weather events, especially those occurring in the fall.

Antarctic ice set a record high this autumn – the most sea ice ever measured at either pole.

“It’s probably going to be a very interesting winter,” she said.

I predict that there will be cold, snow and storms this winter, with lots of climate destroying Christmas lights.

Hopefully this also applies to the commander in chief.

The world ends next month, and Bill McKitten has been furiously tweeting that everything in nature is the worst ever and escalating exponentially.  The Mayans warned that this was going to happen.

We should have listened.

10-Day Temperature Outlook

1. Cool the past, warm the present
2. Tell the public that the weather used to be better in the past
3. Tell the public that giving up their freedom and money will make the weather better
4. Steal as much money as you can from the public, and tell them it is for their own good
5. Educate a generation of mindless complicit drones

This message was conceived of and approved by the US government.

1. Would you be willing to buy $10 per gallon gasoline to pretend you are doing something about the climate?
2. Would you be willing to give up 20% of your income to pretend you are doing something about the climate?
3. Would you be willing to live without hot water or electricity in the winter to pretend you are doing something about the climate?
4. Would you be willing to drive a golf cart to pretend you are doing something about the climate?
5. Would you be willing to give up your vacation to pretend you are doing something about the climate?

Grist says that 77% of Americans would answer yes to the questions above.

• A large majority (77%) say global warming should be a “very high” (18%), “high” (25%), or “medium” priority (34%) for the president and Congress. One in four (23%) say it should be a low priority.
• Six in ten Americans (61%) say the U.S. should reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions regardless of what other countries do.
• A large majority of Americans (88%) say the U.S. should make an effort to reduce global warming, even if it has economic costs.
