Hysterical Climatology

The science of historical hysterical climatology has several schools of thought

  • The Hayhoe/Dessler/Hansen school – time began in 1970
  • The Karl/Hansen school – people were too stupid in the past to read thermometers, and have become exponentially more stupid in the current decade. Particularly in 2012.
  • The NOAA school – people did not know how to count dead bodies before 1950

One more school of thought is universally accepted by all hysterical climatologists. People in the past did not value their own lives, and were too dumb to get out of the way of a storm. Losing 20,000 people in a 1780 storm is trivial compared to 50 people in a 2012 storm.

1821 Storm Surge Drowned Lower Manhattan

Reaching the City on September 3, 1821, the storm was one of the only hurricanes believed to have passed directly over parts of modern New York City. The tide rose 13 feet in one hour and inundated wharves, causing the East River to converge into the Hudson River across lower Manhattan as far north as Canal Street. However, few deaths were attributed to the storm because flooding was concentrated in neighborhoods with far fewer homes than exist today.

1775 Hurricane Had A Thirty Foot Storm Surge

It wiped out many British ships and killed 4,000 people.

The Newfoundland Hurricane of 1775, also known as the Independence Hurricane, was a hurricane that hit the Colony of Newfoundland in September 1775. It is believed to have killed at least 4,000 people, making it one of the deadliest Atlantic hurricanes of all time.

The September 9, 1775 edition of The Virginia Gazette reported: “The shocking accounts of damage done by the rains last week are numerous: Most of the mill-dams are broke, the corn laid almost level with the ground, and fodder destroyed; many ships and other vessels drove ashore and damaged, at Norfolk, Hampton, and York. In the heavy storm of wind and rain, which came on last Saturday, and continued most part of the night, the Mercury man of war as drove from her station abreast of the town of Norfolk, and stuck flat aground in shoal water.”

A total of 4,000 sailors, mostly from England and Ireland, were reported to have been drowned.[1] A localized storm surge is reported to have reached heights of between 20 and 30 feet. Losses from the hurricane include two armed schooners of the Royal Navy, which were on the Grand Banks of Newfoundland to enforce Britain’s fishing rights.

Listening To Hansen Would Have Prevented The Pine Bark Beetle Infestation

Had we given up fossil fuels 30 years ago like Hansen wanted us to do, there would not be a single tree left standing in the US. They all would have been used for firewood by desperate people trying to keep warm.

No trees – no beetles. Problem solved.

October Hurricane Strikes Are Becoming Much Less Common

October hurricane strikes occurred almost three times as often during the 19th century as they do now. They used to happen about once every 1.7 years, and now they happen about once every five years. The peak decades for October hurricanes were the 1870s and the 1940s, which both had six.

New York Times Goes Openly Racist

“When African-Americans go to the polls next week, they are likely to support Barack Obama at a level approaching the 95 percent share of the black vote he received in 2008. As well they should”

Another Nail In The Coffin For Little Dirty Energy

Death knell for wind farms: ‘Enough is Enough’ says minister

Wind farms have been “peppered” across Britain without enough consideration for the countryside and people’s homes, a senior Conservative energy minister admitted last night as he warned “enough is enough”.

John Hayes said that we can “no longer have wind turbines imposed on communities” and added that it “seems extraordinary” they have allowed to spread so much throughout the country.

The energy minister said he had ordered a new analysis of the case for onshore wind power which would form the basis of future government policy, rather than “a bourgeois Left article of faith based on some academic perspective”. The comments sparked speculation that Conservative ministers are planning to drop their support for wind farms — a move which would trigger a major Coalition rift.
