Unbelievable stupidity on display. I post alarmist’s useless forecasts and alarmist’s useless data, and they come back with references to some obscure paper explaining why their own data and forecasts are useless. Didn’t the experts above read the paper?

Then David Appell accuses me of distortion. No David, you are just incapable of rational or objective thought. Your team wants to have it both ways. They want to be able to make stupid alarmist forecasts, and the same time pretend to be doing serious science.

One of Canada’s top northern researchers says the permanent Arctic sea ice that is home to the world’s polar bears and usually survives the summer has all but disappeared.

Experts around the world believed the ice was recovering because satellite images showed it expanding. But David Barber says the thick, multiyear frozen sheets crucial to the northern ecosystem have been replaced by thin “rotten” ice which can’t support the weight of the bears.

“It caught us all by surprise because we were expecting there to be multiyear sea ice – the whole world thought it was multiyear sea ice,” said Dr. Barber, who just returned from an expedition to the Beaufort Sea.

“Unfortunately what we found was that the multiyear [ice]has all but disappeared. What’s left is this remnant, rotten ice.”

But it is worse than it seems. According to PIOMAS, the ice is much thinner now than it was in 2009 – when all that was left was thin, rotten first-year ice.

We have a few people on the blog arguing that as Arctic ice thickness and concentration gets lower, the rate of decline should dramatically decrease.

Experts tells us that the average ice thickness is less than 1.5 meters, that the ice concentration is low, that temperatures are skyrocketing, that all the MYI is gone, that warm currents are melting the ice from below, that exposed surface area has greatly increased, that Arctic storms break up thin ice, blah blah blah blah

Then they tell us the rate of decline should drop off rapidly under all these conditions. My  bullshit detector is off scale.
