NASA hasn’t been interested in Greenland, since the two hour period when the ice sheet went just barely above freeing.

Just hours shy of the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, Isaac’s approach left deserted streets from New Orleans’ famous French Quarter to Tampa, Fla., 480 miles away, where Republican conventioneers pressed on with only a passing mention of the storm’s arrival.

The vast majority of multi-year ice melts during the winter, not the summer. The period from 1988 to 1996 saw a huge amount of winter MYI lost, as it was blown out into the North Atlantic.
