Someone Thinks We Are Stupid

August 15, 2012

“We’re going around the country, talking about, ‘How do we put people back to work? How do we improve our schools? How do we make sure that we’re producing American energy? How do we lower our debt in a responsible way?’ And I don’t think you or anybody who’s been watching the campaign would say that in any way we have tried to divide the country. We’ve always tried to bring the country together,” President Obama said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Wilder, a Democrat and a grandson of slaves, echoed indignant Republican claims that Biden’s remarks before a largely black crowd in Danville, Va., brought racism into the presidential race.

The 1930s Were Much Hotter In The Midwest

The graph above shows the USHCN average maximum temperature and eleven year running mean  for Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Arkansas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

July 2012 was more than four degrees cooler than 1936, and was also cooler than 1901, 1934 and 1954. The period since 1990 has been the coolest of the last century.

When people like Katherine Hayhoe say that the heat is unusual, it is a further indication that they have no idea what they are talking about.

Seth Borenstein Begs For Abuse

Twitter / borenbears: Globally, July was 329th straight …

NOAA picks a cold period for the baseline, adjusts recent temperatures upwards and fails to account for UHI. The odds of them reporting honest temperatures are zero out of infinity.

Perhaps Seth could explain why half of the lower 48 US states set their all time high temperature record during the 1930s.
