Ed Markey – The Dimwitted Movie Critic

“Batman may be rising in theaters, but icebergs and heat records are falling across the globe as our folly of global-warming inaction is finally coming back to haunt us,” said Markey, the top Democrat on the House Natural Resources Committee.

Democrat Markey says massive ice break makes case for climate change action – The Hill’s E2-Wire

The most watched movie of all time was about a ship which crashed into a huge Greenland iceberg  – 100 years ago. Markey must have missed that one.

When Markey talks about heat records around the globe, he must be referring to the near record cold in Alaska, the UK, South America, Australia, and the fact that 2012 is shaping up to be one of the coolest years of the decade globally.

NASA Experts : Greenland Icebergs Used To Be Somehow Different

They used to be smaller, or gentler, or softer, or something.

Norwich Police Department Gets Internet Access

While no criminal proceedings will be instigated, the investigation has concluded that the data breach was the result of a ‘sophisticated and carefully orchestrated attack on the CRU’s data files, carried out remotely via the internet’.

Norfolk Constabulary: Police closes UEA investigation

In other words – they have no indication that there was a hack, they have no idea who collected the files, but they do know that the zipped files were transmitted over the Internet by someone.

NASA Science Is Not Part Of Any Natural Process Any More

Some scientists believe that this may be a natural occurrence, but the scale of the break has others concerned. “We’re still in the phase of scratching our heads and figuring out how big a deal this really is,” says Ian Howat, an ice scientist at Ohio University. Several of Greenland’s glaciers have been warming at a rapid pace, with data indicating that they’re heating up five times faster than the average global temperature. Temperatures in the region have risen by 4 degrees Fahrenheit over the past 30 years.

Scientist remain concerned over the shift in Greenland’s climate over the past three years, with NASA glaciologist Eric Rignot saying that the occurrence “is not part of natural variations anymore.” As to what will happen to the new iceberg, it’s likely that it will break off into smaller pieces and drift towards Newfoundland. A similar pattern occurred with another iceberg in 2010. Meanwhile, the Arctic saw the largest sea ice loss during June since records began.

What a load of complete NASA crap. Vikings farms are just now reappearing from under the ice. There is no question that Greenland has been as warm or warmer – most recently during the 1930s.

The Titanic wasn’t the only ship which collided with an iceberg in 1912.

Spectacular Junk Science In College Station, Texas

Andrew “Permanent Drought” Dessler has been telling us that drought in Texas is due to CO2. So I plotted PMDI vs CO2, and PMDI vs. ENSO.

Negative PMDI indicates dry conditions, and correlates quite well with La Nina. Texas has never been dry with ENSO above 1.0 (i.e. El Nino)

On the other hand, Texas drought shows anti-correlation with CO2. As CO2 has increased, Texas has had fewer droughts. What this tells us is that Dessler has never done any actual research on this subject using actual data. It took me 10 minutes to gather the data and do this analysis.

Crack Scientist Trenberth On ENSO

In 1997, Trenberth wrote a landmark paper – which placed 97% blame for El Nino on your SUV.

The recent evolution of ENSO, with a major new El Niño event underway in 1997, reinforces the evidence that the tendency for more El Niño and fewer La Niña events since the late 1970s is highly unusual and very unlikely to be accounted for solely by natural variability.

El Niño and climate change

Since he wrote that paper in 1997, ENSO has plummeted.

(Dr. Trenberth traveled to Antarctica with Hansen and Gore earlier this year to watch it melt, and  instead experienced several weeks of near record cold weather.)
