1975 Report : UHI Causes Extreme Weather

Already man-made climate changes are clearly evident around cities. Buildings and pavement tend to store more heat than vegetation in the surrounding countryside, hence temperatures can range some 4.0 degrees higher in the summer and 2.0 degrees higher in the winter.

Hansen says that UHI makes cities cooler

Such “heat islands” change wind patterns including creation of vertical plumes of hot air rising some 3,000 feet over some cities. As a result, a survey of nine American cities showed increased rainfall in the vicinity ranging from 9.0 to 27.0 percent. The severity of these storms is also affected. Near Houston, Tex., hailstorms were found to increase by 430 percent. The most detailed of these studies is under way in the St. Louis area, where an urban-related 25 percent increase of thunderstorms was found to affect some 1,000 to 2,000 square miles of the surrounding area. The cumulative effect of such changes from all cities is not known, but the possible interactions increase the likelihood of severe consequences as urbanization continues.

Electing Interlopers

Both Australia and the US chose to elect interlopers in their most recent elections. Perhaps it is a better idea to choose leaders who are not trying to destroy your country?

Unless of course your country is in a mood to commit suicide.

Trading Places With Pakistan

President Obama is fighting to make electricity unaffordable and unavailable in the US, while Pakistan struggles to do the opposite.

Pakistanis Tire of Water, Electricity Shortages
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s new prime minister, Raja Pervez Ashraf, faces a struggling economy and has said he will make the delivery of electricity a priority, but the nation is tired of constant shortages of water and power.

In the capital, Islamabad, homeowners pay for private water trucks to fill their tanks. Others have huge generators to make sure their air conditioners run.

But residents say they are tired of leaders who can’t deliver basic services like water, gas, electricity.

The lack of power is crippling Pakistan’s ability to grow with its population. City workers in crowded Rawalpindi use generators to fix the infrastructure.

Moving On To A New Icon

Last week, Colorado fires proved global warming. We were told by the experts  that the fire season was just getting started and was going to get much worse because of the permanent CO2 induced drought. That was about 72 hours ago.

But Colorado is no longer interesting due to the early arrival of the monsoons, so the cherry pickers have flown east.

Alarmists Expected To Confuse Weather With Climate

Temperatures in Chattanooga region expected to outpace nation’s

A string of 100-plus-degree days is scorching the region.

Record-breaking heat burned 16 Tennessee counties and broke 25 heat records in 2011. The same year had record-breaking rainfall in 21 counties and a total of 27 broken rainfall records, along with seven more broken snowfall records.

It’s not random, and it’s not a fluke, according to experts. It’s climate change.

And in East Tennessee it’s going to get even hotter — perhaps hotter than the rest of the planet.

“Based on the various models we have in hand, we know this area is expected to heat up actually more than the entire globe is,” said Gregory Vickrey, director of the North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy. “If the average ambient temperature of the globe is going to be a minimum of 2 degrees Celsius higher, we’re going to face 2.8 degrees Celsius higher here — just in East Tennessee.”

That’s just over 5 degrees Fahrenheit.

Complete nonsense. According to Phil Jones at CRU, temperatures in Chattanooga have seen no change since the start of records before the Civil War.

One of my kids attended a wedding in Tennessee earlier in the month, when  temperatures were running ten degrees below normal.  It turns hot for a couple days and the climate morons immediately assume that the world is coming to an end.

Heatwaves In The Midwest Used To Be Much Worse

Des Moines has had only one 100 degree day during the last nine years, but in 1934 they had 31 days over 100 degrees, including three days in May.

U.S. Historical Climatology Network

It reached 101 on June 27 this year, and alarmists went hysterical. One hundred degree days used to happen on a regular basis in Des Moines. Now they are extremely rare.

Alarmists blame CO2 for heatwaves, because they are ignorant of history and science.

Berwyn Puts His Ignorance On Display Once Again

SUMMIT COUNTY — Showing signs of increasing desperation, global warming deniers are trying to deflect attention from the clear and present danger of heatwaves, severe storms and wildfires by publishing questionable long-range weather maps suggesting next winter will bring below average temperatures.

Hardly anyone is listening. It’s tough to pay attention to nonsense when the temperature outside is 107 and an unusually intense thunderstorm knocks out your power.

The two hottest Junes in US history were 1933 and 1918. In May 1934, Iowa hit 111 degrees. In August 1913, Oklahoma City was over 110 degrees on twenty-two days. Our generation has experienced nothing close to these extremes.

Plus, the same people, like infamous denier Joe Bastardi, to name just one, have made the same claims before, only to be proved wrong time and time again. During last summer’s brutal heat wave, they told us not to worry, next year will be cooler.

Guess what? Now it’s “next year” and it’s hotter than ever. Perhaps the exact location of the hotspots have shifted a bit, but the bottom line is, people are starting to notice that the extreme heat is not letting up. To the contrary, the ratio of record highs compared to record lows keeps increasing and the heatwaves are lasting longer.

Classic yellow spotted cherry picking. The planet always has hot spots (falling air) and cool spots (rising air)  Australia, Brazil, and the UK are having exceptionally cold weather. Temperatures at the North Pole have been running below normal. Temperatures on both US coasts were below normal in June. Bob is sitting under a warm spot (A blistering 80 degrees in Vail) and it has confused him.

Four tropical storms form early in the season; one of them soaks up energy from the bathtub warm waters of the Gulf, then converts all that excess energy into a fury of rain that leaves parts of Florida under water.

Op-ed: Extreme weather shows global warming fingerprints « Summit County Citizens Voice

Complete drivel. 1907 was the coldest year on record in the US according to GISS, and was followed by a category 2 hurricane in March 1908 and a hurricane which hit the US on May 24.

Bob is the classic witch burner. He sees something that troubles him, doesn’t bother to check his facts, and finds someone to blame – like Joe Bastardi.

Berwyn types have plagued the human race since the dawn of time.

Why Can’t DC Use Renewable Energy?

Obama has been working to destroy the US electricity supply, and telling us that we all need to switch over to Solyndra based energy.

Daybreak Sunday found 789,358 in the Washington region still without power, facing another sweltering day and the prospect of returning to work Monday before electricity is restored to their homes.

– The Washington Post

Why can’t they use personal biomass to cool their homes? Obama has been (de-)powering the US off his BS for almost four years now.

Woe To Arctic Bettors

The image below shows why those betting on a record minimum are probably making a mistake.

During July 2007, very strong winds blew across the Bering Strait and pushed the ice edge to the north by dozens of miles per day. The winds continued all summer and compacted the ice towards the pole. Note how far the ice had receded by July 15.

This year, the water is extremely cold in the Bering Sea, and the ice in the Beaufort and Chukchi Seas is thick. Winds have been calm for a couple of weeks. Barring a major shift in weather patterns, there isn’t going to be much ice area loss in the Chukchi or Beaufort Seas during the next few weeks.

Things can change, but right now everything hints at slow melt after the Hudson Bay melts out.

Per Capita S&M

Julia (the pasty Welsh girl) says that Australians need to be punished because their per capita CO2 emissions are high. (Unlike Mexico, which has the highest per capita methane emissions – due to Pinto Beans.)

The fact that Australia’s total CO2 emissions are relatively about the size of a gnat on a hair  on an elephant’s ass – isn’t important. It also isn’t important that her tax will have no effect on the climate. What is important is that per capita emitters are duly punished.

So I made a list of top per capita emitters of CO2.

  • Al Gore
  • Richard Branson
  • Prince Charles
  • James Cameron
  • Barack Obama – who flew to Colorado to see the damage that CO2 caused.
