No Sea Level Rise In La Jolla, California Since 1871

Experts tell us that sea level will rise a foot in California over the next twenty years, despite the fact that sea level hasn’t changed for 140 years. The animation below transitions from La Jolla, 1871 – to a recent high tide photo.

Below Average Fire Season So Far

the number of fires and acreage burned nationwide is still below the 10-year average for this time of year, according to fire agency records.

If It Looks Like Racketeering And It Walks Like Racketeering …

It is simply not a plausible coincidence that we have been hit with one wildly exaggerated study after another in recent months, and in particular all the sea level fraud of late.

The Federal Court today demonstrated the effectiveness of the billions of taxpayer dollars being funneled to the climate mob. Instead of prosecuting the mobsters, the court is giving them cover.

Obama Takes Away Fire Fighting Resources – Then Tries To Score Political Points

Obama canceled a key firefighting equipment contract, and is now coming out for a photo op with the people he screwed.

Last year, in the middle of the fire season, while Rick Perry was still campaigning, the Forest Service simply terminate a contract with a company called Aero Union.  Aero Union had operated6 Lockheed P-3 Orions, and was preparing to add a seventh to the fleet when the contract was canceled.

Obama wants to make sure that traffic and firefighters are tied up in the middle of an emergency, so that he can get an election year photo op.

WASHINGTON — The White House says President Barack Obama will tour the scene of devastating wildfires in Colorado on Friday, and thank firefighters battling some of the worst fires to hit the American West in decades.

Joe Bastardi Gives A Heads Up On What To Expect In The Tropics This Summer

Guest post by Joe Bastardi

Just a reminder

Here was the Weatherbell Hurricane forecast  that was issued late in  late March.  I  don’t believe in the silly number games,   but  came up with  8-11 because that is what the ace index I am forecasting  (70-90)  would give on average.  I think if these  number fixated guys  want to show how good they are,  should focus on the ace index,  because of the dime a dozen naming. For instance , while Chris did look like a hurricane, it developed over  water colder than NHC  criteria. This would never have been named  in  1968, when we had 3  start the season as fast as this year.

Notice though this forecast is not really about the names

It is about exactly what you have seen happen so far. Developments  near the coast, with watches or warnings with the first advisory.  I am expecting a much weaker year in the tropical breeding grounds. That being said, storms like  Carol  1954,  Belle  1976, and Bob in 1991 all hit the northeast in lower  number years, after developing within  200 miles of the coast!   And Belle and Bob were El nino year storms.  Like it or not, the weather pattern is like the 1950s, with major heat in the US  and  the threat of  hurricanes on the east coast especially relative to normal.  The tracks of the  1950 major hurricanes show this. Throw in Connie and Diane in  1955 and the NC coast got hit  5 times in  2 years

We are in the 1950s  pattern again.. cold pdo  warm amo,  so on the east coast, we have to be more vigilant in the larger sense as we are way way overdue as you can see here.  So when they come, then we already know how to counter the McKibbens and Cullens .  In fact the more pertinent question now is why hasn’t there been more( Has to be global warming, they own every answer)

Colorado Firefighters Get A Break

Heavy rain fell on the Fort Collins fire this afternoon, though I actually hadn’t seen any smoke since the rainfall on Sunday night. Look for the press to continue being hysterical about the fire for another two weeks.

Doppler radar estimated anywhere from a half inch of rain to just over 2 inches of rain over the burn area.

Venus – One More Time

Why is it hot on Venus?

Hansen started out his career with a dumb idea about Venus. His doctoral dissertation blamed the high temperatures on aerosols, which is pretty funny because now he blames low temperatures on aerosols. (Science was never his strong point.)

Later he admitted he was wrong, and instead latched on to Marijuana chain smoker Carl Sagan’s theory – the heat was caused by 95% CO2. Wrong again.

Venus is hot because it has a very thick troposphere. Atmospheric pressure on Venus is almost 100X higher than Earth. It is hot on Venus for the same reason it is hot in Death Valley and cold on Mount Everest.

If you traveled to Venus and descended into the atmosphere to an altitude of 50km, the atmospheric pressure and the temperature would be similar to that on Earth. This is in spite of the fact that the greenhouse effect at 1 bar on Earth is much stronger – because we have water vapor.

Compare the LW absorption of Earth’s atmosphere (Total Absorption and Scattering) to Venus atmosphere (Carbon Dioxide) at 1 bar, in the chart below. As you can see, the greenhouse effect on Earth is much stronger.

If you descended down to the surface, temperatures would rise about 8C per km – similar to Earth. The lapse rate is fixed, regardless of pressure broadening towards the surface, or whatever other dumb arguments people will bring up here.

Venus Atmosphere Temperature and Pressure Profiles

Venus is hot because it has a thick convective atmosphere. Falling air heats, and rising air cools. If the atmosphere on Earth were as thick as Venus, temperatures would be very hot here too.

Hansen Makes A Fool Of Himself In Boulder

Hansen and Bill Nye are down there intellectually polluting the atmosphere

A wildfire that began in Boulder County yesterday brought a local flare to James Hansen’s lecture on “The Venus Syndrome,” as he touched on how temperature anomalies are causing wildfires to be more frequent, more destructive, and to burn hotter. “The smoke in the room just adds another dimension,” Nye said, referring to the campfire smell that permeated the building from the recently ignited Flagstaff fire.

Hansen has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Temperatures in Boulder have declined four degrees over the past sixty years.

U.S. Historical Climatology Network

He  is still promoting his Venus hoax. The lapse rate on Venus is nearly identical to Earth and is nearly identical to the adiabatic lapse rate. The temperature on both planets is determined by atmospheric pressure, not the composition of the atmosphere.

It is a real shame having the clueless driving science.

Large Thunderstorms In Colorado Today

The humidity is way up and storms are forming over much of Colorado today. This should greatly assist the firefighters.

We haven’t had any smoke in Fort Collins since the rain on Sunday. Monsoon season has arrived a week or two early.

Putting Tide Gauges On Fill Dirt

Lower Manhattan is about twice the area that it used to be, because fill dirt was brought in. This increased the weight of the island. They also added several feet of concrete and a jungle of tall, heavy buildings. All of these things cause the land to sink – a lot. Three feet of concrete would make the land sink two feet.

Then, to add insult to injury they put the tide gauge on the fill dirt, which tends to compact on it’s own.

Lower Manhattan tide gauge.

After making the land sink, the final stage of the process is to blame the relative rise in sea level on CO2, even though it has been happening at a steady rate for more than 150 years.
