They were sure after 1998 that the climate was spiraling out of control due to global warming. They were also sure that the fate of the planet depended on them getting the word out.

In order to spur action, they took the liberty of systematically manipulating the temperature data to cool the past and warm the present. This was partly done under the thinly veiled guise of “USHCN corrections” which are otherwise known as “complete crap” or “shit confirmation bias on a shingle”

Sometimes you have to do really bad things to save the planet (Peter Glieck™ ) but something went terribly wrong – temperatures started going down. This led to further manipulations and thrashing around idiotic ideas like Chinese aerosols, missing sea ice, evil and unnatural La Nina’s, etc.

The problem is, once they turned to the dark side, there was no going back. Science be damned – this is now about saving their sorry reputations and incomes for as long as they can.

Copy and paste the text below into a text editor (like notepad or wordpad.) The subject of global warming has become so politically unpalatable over the last few years that neither party mentions it much anymore.  A conference on climate change sponsored by Florida Atlantic University made it clear that ignoring the threat has done nothing to slow it down — particularly in South Florida, which has more people and property at risk by rising sea levels than any place in the country.  The two-day summit in Boca Raton, which wrapped up Friday, painted a bleak and water-logged picture for much of coastal Florida.  Under current projections, the Atlantic Ocean would swallow much of the Florida Keys in 100 years.

Satellite measurements show no change in sea level in South Florida since they started taking measurements in 1992.

The Florida coral reefs have survived 120 metres of sea level rise over the last 15,000 years, because they grew upwards as sea level increased. This is one of the most fundamental principles of geology.

Before Hansen corrupted the data about ten years ago, he showed that the three hottest years in US history were 1934, 1921 and 1931. He currently shows 1998 as being the hottest year in the US, but prior to the data corruption – 1998 was only ranked number four.

Here are some news stories from those years, which provide good insight into why Hansen is rewriting their history. The weather was very severe around the planet, and the Ministry of Truth doesn’t want you to know about it.

I wrote an article showing that GISS data has been tampered with to show warming, and some capslock challenged reader writes back screaming at me that the (altered) data shows warming.

Scientists who claim that huge sea level rises will occur in some places – but not others – are simply flaming morons. Water is a fluid. If the WAIS “collapses” and raises sea level by two metres, then sea level will rise by two metres everywhere.

The reason we see discrepancies in sea level data now are because the numbers we are working with are small. One place may have 3 mm of rise while another place may have 3 mm of fall, due to thermal expansion, wind, instrument error, subsidence, etc.

If we saw an actual sea level rise of thousands of millimetres, it would be nearly uniform across the planet. Try making the water at one end of your swimming pool stay higher than at the other end.

People are getting PhD’s in science from universities, while lacking science skills needed to graduate high school.

This story is incredible. Scientists funded by NSF are directly contradicting all of the available data. There is no plausible explanation other than dishonesty.

As the world continues to warm from climate change, most of California — including San Francisco Bay and Monterey Bay — will see a greater rise in sea level than other parts of the planet, according to a prominent national study released Friday.

California has shown little or no change in sea level for decades. It is one of the most stable places on the planet.

The report, from the National Academy of Sciences, found that the impacts of melting ice and warming, expanding oceans will hit California harder because most of the state’s coast line is slowly sinking due to geological forces. Ocean levels south of Humboldt County will rise up to 1 foot in the next 20 years, 2 feet by 2050, and up to 5 feet by 2100, the study showed.

San Francisco Bay already has risen roughly 7 inches in the past 100 years, as measured by the tidal gauge at Fort Point, under the Golden Gate Bridge.

All of that seven inches occurred prior to 1980. Since 1980, there has been zero sea level rise measured at the Fort Point tide gauge. See the graph below.

“We shouldn’t be debating this any more,” said Gary Griggs, a coastal geologist at UC Santa Cruz who served on the committee that issued the 274-page report. “Let’s start thinking realistically about the future, and plan so we minimize our losses.”

The thing we should be discussing is how to purge the scientific community of junk science.

At risk over the next generation: low-lying areas such as San Francisco and Oakland airports, Treasure Island, Alviso in San Jose and low-lying communities such as Foster City and Redwood Shores, particularly during winter storms at high tide.

Tide gauges and satellite measurements along the California coast show that sea level has either not changed, or has gone down over the last twenty years. Claims of rapid sea level rise over the next twenty years are fraudulent.

The graph below shows the tide gauge data discussed in the article. The trend is dead flat for thirty years, and they are claiming 300 mm of rise in the next twenty years.

There is no reason to expect any sea level rise in California over the next 20 years, much less the large numbers being claimed in this study. We are dealing with a bunch of blatant fraudsters.
