During the 1930s, 100 degree days were very common in Des Moines. They very rarely happen any more. It has been nine years since Des Moines hit 100F.
By contrast, 1934 had thirty-one days over 100 – including five days over 110 and three days over 112.
Team climate moron claims that warm temperatures during March in the US were proof of global warming.
According to CRU, March of 1910 was essentially identical to March, 2012 in the US – except that Alaska and the west coast were much warmer in 1910.

Appell says that Nicholas Drapela was not dismissed for being a skeptic, then explains that he was deservedly dismissed for being a skeptic – for making these comments.

Criticizing Hansen is not grounds for dismissal. Hansen himself has written that people who disagree with him should be prosecuted, and yet Hansen was not fired. The Climategate e-mails show much stronger language – including threats of physical violence – from the team.
Why hasn’t Appell called for the hockey team to be fired?
Then Appell goes full stupid with the usual nonsense about big skeptic money.
But I do have to say this: this is Nicholas Drapela’s moment. If he plays his cards right he has a bright future, with the potential of gleaming riches ahead.
But it won’t be in academia. Nor should it be.
Not to mention this idiocy.
He’s a scientist. If the science is wrong, then he should write a paper. Or write a dozen of them. Based on what he thinks he knows, it should be like shooting fish in a oil barrel. He’d be famous, known forever more as the scientist who disproved manmade warming.
Appell willfully ignores mountains of evidence every day, by closing his eyes and plugging his ears.

Here is CRUTEM coverage for January, 1850 – a very warm month in the US.
In 1999, Hansen showed that 1934 was 0.5C warmer than 1998 in the US.
By 2006, Hansen had made them equal.

Now, 1998 is warmer than 1934.

The Heat is On: U.S. Temperature Trends | Climate Central
The graph below plots Hansen’s 2006 temperatures for the five states which have warmed the fastest (in the map above) since 1970 – Arizona, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Vermont. The 1970s was one of the coldest decades in US history. By starting in 1970, Climate Central is intentionally defrauding their readers. Had they started in 1950, there would be almost no warming shown.
Also important to remember that all recent temperatures are jacked up by 0.5F. What a bunch of crooks!

Bottom line is there has been little or no long term warming in the US.
According to Richard Black of the BBC, global warming is soon to be a $100 billion per year industry. This money pays for and drives the direction of the science.
The press corps(e) drones on endlessly about tiny amounts of imagined big oil money – yet refuses to discuss the scientific corruption caused by unimaginably large amounts of big government money, big bank money, big insurance money, …. etc.
The message for scientists is simple. Give us the answer we are looking for, and we will pay you. Give us the wrong answer and we will fire you. Journalists won’t touch this because they are on same payola scheme.
Right after Obama was elected, Bank Of America was given $45 billion as part of TARP – almost $1000 per taxpayer. Now they are investing $50 billion in global warming.

The new set of goals will be effective on Jan. 1, following the anticipated completion of the bank’s current 10-year pledge of $20 billion, which it said is four years ahead of schedule.
“Environmental business delivers value to our clients, return for our shareholders, and helps strengthen the economy,” said Chief Executive Brian Moynihan. “We met our prior goal in about half the time we set for ourselves, so more than doubling our target is ambitious but achievable.”
Bank of America Pledges $50 Billion to Combat Climate Change
As of 2006, Hansen was showing that Australia’s hottest year was 1914, and that current temperatures are about the same as they were during the 1880s.
