NASA Sees Something For The First Time – Are Shocked By How Much It Had Changed

A NASA-sponsored expedition has made a startling discovery of diverse biological plant life at the depths of the Arctic Ocean, which is raising potential concerns for marine life.

The findings, which are being compared to “finding a rainforest in the middle of a desert,” include waters richer in microscopic marine plants than any other ocean region on Earth. They were collected over a period of two years from 2010-2011 by a NASA-led oceanographic expedition.

Impacts of Climate on EcoSystems and Chemistry of the Arctic Pacific Environment, or ICESCAPE, explored the Arctic Ocean in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas along Alaska’s western and northern coasts on board a U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker ship. The expedition used optical technologies to look for impacts of environmental change in the Arctic region.

NASA’s New Discovery of ‘Rainforest’ in Arctic Ocean Raises Concern

That  makes sense. When Columbus arrived in America for the first time, he was shocked by how much it had changed since the last time he was there.

Good thing the current crop of NASA morons weren’t in charge of the moon missions.

Everything Is A Conspiracy – To The Left

When Breitbart reported that Obama’s biography agent listed his birthplace as Kenya for 16 years, the immediate response from the left was that it was a conspiracy. Even though she admits that she did it. Was she conspiring against herself?

What kind of morons would say something like that? Any fact which the left doesn’t like, they simply declare conspiracy – and then stick their head back up their ass.

Dr. Rood’s Stupid Weather Underground Trick

By: Dr. Ricky Rood (Weather Underground)

Published: June 2, 2012
So I want to end this blog with a party trick. We have had 327 months in a row above the average temperature of the 20th century. If we played the game that there was a 50% chance of each month being above (heads) or below (tails) average, we have now rolled heads 327 times in a row. How likely is that? I think that is one half raised to 327th power, which is about 1 chance in a number that is 1 with 98 zeros after it. That makes buying a mega lotto ticket look like a solid investment. We live in a extraordinary spring in an extraordinary times. After a rocky start, my potatoes look pretty good.
.

The first problem with his stupid analogy is that older temperatures are adjusted  downwards and recent temperatures are adjusted upwards. This guarantees that all recent temperatures are too high, because the people in charge cheated.

The second problem is that even if temperatures had of been completely flat for the last 327 months, they would still be “above average.” Ricky’s trick tells us absolutely nothing about the trend.

Is Rood being intentionally deceptive, or is he just not very bright?

Earth Is Headed for Disaster, Interdisciplinary Team of Scientists Concludes
By Paul Basken
An interdisciplinary group of 22 scientists, combining paleontological evidence with ecological modeling, has concluded that the earth appears headed toward catastrophic and irreversible environmental changes.

Their report, in the June 7 issue of the journal Nature, describes an exponentially increasing rate of species extinctions, extreme climate fluctuations, and other threats that together risk a level of upheaval not seen since the large-scale extinctions 65 million years ago that killed off the dinosaurs.

Mr. Ehrlich said he foresees a series of dire threats to humanity, many virtually untouched by political leaders, including climate change, water shortages, and the widespread use of man-made toxins. Even a single repercussion of one of those, such as water scarcity leading to nuclear war between India and Pakistan, could devastate populations worldwide, he said.

“Generally the scientific community has spoken many times,” Mr. Ehrlich said, “but nobody’s paying any attention.”

Earth Is Headed for Disaster, Interdisciplinary Team of Scientists Concludes

The reason that no one is paying attention is that these same liars have been crying wolf over and over and over again, and their perverse motivations have nothing to do with saving the planet.

Twelve Weeks Left Until The NASA Ice-Free Arctic

N_daily_extent.png (420×500)

The consensus of experts says that there is no ice left in the Arctic

NASA climate scientist Jay Zwally said: “At this rate, the Arctic Ocean could be nearly ice-free at the end of summer by 2012, much faster than previous predictions.”

Polar ice cap melting away in 2008 ?

The latest salvo comes courtesy of Xinhua, which reports that Olav Orheim, the head of the Norwegian International Polar Year Secretariat, is placing his money on this summer. Noting that its ice sheet had reached a historical low of 3m sq. km last summer – it covered around 7.5m sq. km as recently as 2000 – Orheim told Xinhua that “if Norway’s average temperature this year equals that in 2007, the ice cap in the Arctic will all melt away.” Barring this disaster, Orheim predicted that excess carbon dioxide emissions and higher average temperatures would unpredictably alter the region’s fragile ecosystems. On a separate note, he said that Asia would likely be hardest hit by rising sea levels, estimating that a one meter rise would affect “nearly 100 million people on an area of 800,000 square km in Asia and direct economic loss will amount to 400 billion U.S. dollars.”

Revkin Jumps To Conclusions Without Doing Any Research

In this part of the Arctic, which could be a bellwether for changes to come elsewhere with greenhouse-driven warming, what might be called pop-up forests are forming. Low tundra shrubs, many of which are willow and alder species, have rapidly grown into small trees over the last 50 years, according to the study, led by scientists from the Biodiversity Institute at the University of Oxford and the Arctic Center of the University of Lapland.

How did he come to the conclusion that greenhouse-driven  warming is responsible?

Perhaps if Andy had spent five minutes doing research, he would have known that the Arctic has been warming for almost 200 years.
