The Real Arctic Death Spiral

Over the past year we have witnessed a real death spiral in the Arctic – a loss of information. First we lost JAXA and Bremen. Now Cryosphere Today seems to be gone.

This is particularly disturbing because JAXA and Cryosphere Today were the only sites that had daily data readily available. Are we headed for an ice-information-free Arctic?

Global Warming As A Form Of Mental Illness

The hockey team has turned on Martin Hoerling, for telling the truth. No surprise, because their funding and prestige depends on maintaining the big lie.

What is interesting is the reaction of the global warming groupies, like those who frequent Andy Revkin’s site. They are convinced that Hoerling must be wrong, because he isn’t saying anything scary. These people seem to have a deep seated psychological need to :

  1. believe that a disaster is about to occur
  2. blame others for the impending disaster
  3. believe that anyone who disagrees with them is evil, and wants to create the disaster
  4. feel guilty about their role in the impending disaster

They don’t actually believe that they can do anything to stop the impending disaster, but they still believe it is important to feel bad about it, spread anger, and tell others to make gestures of sacrifice.

Additionally, they find evidence of the impending disaster everywhere they look. A warm spring day, a cold winter day, a warm winter day, a hot summer day. All evidence that their fears are justified.

Sounds like a loose combination of hypochondria, paranoia and schizophrenia. In other words – full blown loons.

Life In The Real World

I took a long bike ride through the permanent drought of Colorado this afternoon. You can see the devastating effects below.

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03TOVNG-31I]

It was a great day today, football in the morning and cycling in the afternoon. The weather was great, the world is perfect. I wonder why people like Joe Romm prefer to live in a psychotic world of imaginary darkness?

Dr. Hansimian’s Little Known 1981 Football Forecast

In 1981, Dr. Hansimian made this remarkably precise forecast, explaining how the Red Devils would nearly win the 2012 championship – due to climate change.

May 13, 1981

Global warming is ubiquitous. Every gust of wind in the future will be the fault of CO2.

The May 2012 match between City and QPR will be very windy,  causing lots of bad crosses by City and some horrifically bad defensive errors – like heading the ball the wrong direction.

Climate change is also known to cause mental illness, which will affect both Mario Balotelli and Joey Barton. This will cause Mancini to keep Balotelli out of the game too long, even though he will need a big man up front – with Ferdinand eating them alive inside the 18.

Ultimately, the Red Devils will lose because climate change in Stoke (and a late penalty) will make QPR realize that the City game is meaningless, and will quit playing for the last five minutes – allowing City to score twice.

Climate change will be so bad, that during the last minute of the game QPR won’t even move any players forward for the tying goal – why would they want to give United another title?

WWF President Hopes To Kill Millions Of People In His Next Life

The President Emeritus of WWF and past President from 1981-1996, says that he hopes to kill millions of people in his next life.

If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to Earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels.

Alarmists were very offended last week by Heartland’s campaign to show that several famous murderers shared their global warming fears.

The Best Laid Schemes

But Mousie, thou art no thy lane,
In proving foresight may be vain:
The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men
Gang aft agley,
An’ lea’e us nought but grief an’ pain,
For promis’d joy!

If Hollywood made a movie showing today’s events in the Premiership, critics would pan it for being too far fetched from reality.

Berwyn Failing To Make Mountain Residents Stupid

Despite Berwyn’s bully pulpit, only one third of Summit County residents believe him.

Back in early March, the Summit Daily ran an online poll asking readers what they thought about climate change. The available answers were (1) Climate change is occurring but not due to human activity; (2) It is a complete hoax; and (3) It is a serious thing and something we can and should do something about. A forth option was “I’m not sure.” Even though online polls are notoriously inaccurate, I found the results quite interesting.

The “Not Sure” response, which I thought would bring in a lot more votes if people really voiced their true opinions, turned out to poll at only 3.5 percent. The other three choices, amazingly, polled at about a third of the votes for each. A small majority thinks climate change is real, but not due to us. Next came the “It’s a hoax” crowd; leaving true believers in a close third place. There are few “undecideds” in this discussion.

Joe Romm Backtracks On The Permanent Drought

Last summer, Joe Romm declared the official beginning of the permanent southwest drought. I just spoke with my mother in New Mexico, who told me that it “has been raining so much – it looks like the Garden of Eden”

That didn’t work out too well for him, so Joe has backtracked. Now he is promising a permanent drought sometime in the future, based on a careful study of his own writing.

James Hansen Is Correct About Catastrophic Projections For U.S. Drought If We Don’t Act Now

By Joe Romm on May 13, 2012 at 12:33 pm

The response by NOAA’s Martin Hoerling to James Hansen’s recent op-ed does not reflect the scientific literature.

I’m traveling, so let me focus first on Hoerling’s incorrect statements — posted on this blog and DotEarth — about drought. As readers know, the journal Nature asked me to write a Comment piece on the threat posed by drought after they read one of my posts examining the latest science on prolonged drought and “Dust-Bowlification.

The only permanent drought is the lack of hair on his head, and lack of clarity between his ears. The PMDI shows no trend in US southwest drought. The worst droughts were in the first decade of the previous century.

Phil Jones Devastated

Plus some sour grapes from SAF.

Ferguson told BBC Sport. ‘Everybody expected City to win, but they did it against 10 men for half an hour and with five extra minutes to help them.’
