Nuclear Catastrophe Averted!

Last week our global warming friends were hysterical that Plutonium would catch fire in Los Alamos and destroy all life on earth. The summer monsoons have come and now the worry is flooding.

Afternoon thunderstorms can provide hazards from erratic winds and lightning. Currently, there is a flash flood watch for the Jemez Mountains through Monday evening.

Aggie Joke : Dessler Forecasts Texas Weather For The Next 90 Years

As you sit by the pool and sweat this summer, one book you should be reading is The Impact of Global Warming on Texas (University of Texas Press, June 2011, second edition). This book, written by a group of Texas academics, is a sober analysis of our state’s vulnerability to climate change — and the things we can do about it.

It is a particularly appropriate read as we suffer through the hellish summer of 2011. While it is unknown exactly how much human activities are contributing to this summer’s unpleasant weather, one lesson from the book is clear: Get used to it. The weather of the 21st century will be very much like the hot and dry weather of 2011.

Scientific American : East Coast Sea Level Rise Fastest In 2,000 Years

Sea level is rising faster along the U.S. East Coast than it has for at least 2,000 years

The new paper does “firmly establish” that current sea level rise is unprecedented for the recent past, said Ken Miller, a geologist at Rutgers University. The work was warmly received last year when the authors presented it at a sea level-rise workshop sponsored by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, he said.

This is a fascinating discovery, given that satellites show as much as 10mm/year drop off the US east coast over the last decade. One can be assured that any alarmist tripe will be warmly received by the IPCC, because they have an agenda to meet.

Manhattan Still There

http://www.camvista.com/usa/new-york/manhattan-webcam.php

Manhattan has survived another day of catastrophic sea level rise. California is expecting 32 feet of rise during the next few decades, and Brisbane is expecting seven metres. The world’s top rated climatologist expects Manhattan to drown sometime between 2008 and 2028.

I expect that at some point natural selection will kick in and weed out the climate morons. There is only so much stupidity which a country’s infrastructure can tolerate.

SST Changes Over The Last Four Weeks

http://weather.unisys.com/archive/sst/

Over the last four weeks some interesting changes have been occurring in the oceans.

  1. It appears that another La Nina may be forming, as forecast by Klaus Wolter at NOAA. And the opposite of the forecast by James”guaranteed wrong”  Hansen at NASA.
  2. Temperatures in the Atlantic hurricane basin are plummeting.
  3. Very cold water is pooling west of Europe.
  4. Very cold water continues to pool west of North America
  5. Trenberth’s missing heat remains elusive. It may have gone to another planet.

Julia Says She Will Help Poor People By Raising Their Cost Of Living $515 Per Year

I am from the government. I’m here to help you. You can trust all the phony numbers I pulled out of my nether regions.

Unveiled at midday today by the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, a package of $15 billion in tax cuts and increased benefits mean 4 million households will receive more in compensation that the carbon tax will add to their cost of living.

The increases to the cost of living, estimated to be 0.7 per cent, will result from the nation’s top 500 polluters passing on their costs of having to pay for the carbon dioxide they emit.

Figures released today show the average hits to households will be $9.90 a week, or $515 a year, whereas average assistance will be $10.10 a week, or $525 a year.

Electricity will rise by $3.30 a week, gas by $1.50 a week and food bills by an average 0.80c a week.

1992 Hurricane Flattened 165 Square Miles Of Florida

Hurricane Andrew in 1992 was the last category 5 hurricane to hit the US. Top scientists tell us that global warming makes hurricanes more intense.

Hurricane Pounded 165 Square Miles Flat
By William Booth
Washington Post Staff Writer
Sunday, August 30, 1992; Page A1

MIAMI, AUG. 29—Amid the ruins of South Florida, people searched today for new ways to say “total devastation.”

Cameras continue to pan the wreckage from helicopters, but the little picture on a television screen cannot show the miles of sprawling suburbs, where as far as the eye can see, every house is roofless, windowless, wasted.

Modern America has never seen a natural disaster like Hurricane Andrew. The storm did not just destroy homes. It leveled entire towns. Florida City, a working-class community of almost 6,000, is gone.

Neighborhoods of South Dade County look far worse than did Kuwait City after the Persian Gulf War. The damage here is not cosmetic. It is absolute. The zone of worst destruction stretches 15 miles inland, from Biscayne Bay to the Everglades, and 22 miles from north to south, encompassing about 165 square miles.

Is The Ice Moving Or Melting?

Over the past week, most of the ice “loss” in the Arctic Basin appears to have been due to ice compaction rather than melt. Winds are circulating clockwise and compacting the ice towards the North Pole. Also important to note that the albedo of clouds is generally higher than the ice.

Mass Climate Hysteria Expected During The Next 48 Hours

We know that extreme weather is the worst it has ever been in the US, as we pass 1,030 days without a hurricane strike. The longest hurricane-free period since before the Civil War.
