I don’t have any opinion about her guilt or innocence, but this poll is both daft and dishonest. The judge sentenced her to four years for lying, and she has already served almost all of it. The “cannot go unpunished” item is nonsense.

Top scientists tell us that higher temperatures means more moisture in the atmosphere and heavier precipitation. Therefore drought must be caused by cold, and heat must be associated with flooding and record snow.

This explains the hot/dry conditions in Texas this year, the cold/wet conditions in North Dakota, The Dust Bowl and last summer’s heat and drought in Moscow.

It also explains why the temperature /precipitation departure maps mirror each other.

Regarding the glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) correction, Professor Dick Peltier, Director of the Centre for Global Change Science at the University of Toronto and one of the leading experts on GIA and its effects on sea level, sent us the initial reference for the GIA correction that we apply to the global mean sea level estimate. The GIA FAQ and 2011_1 release notes have been updated with this reference. CU sea level lab confirms that they are adding 0.3 mm of sea level rise per year because the oceans are sinking. The fact that they having been doing something stupid for ten years is reason to continue doing it.

“Sea level” is the elevation of the top surface of the ocean. It is not a measure of the depth of the ocean. Subsidence of the bottom surface does not cause Manhattan to drown.

Calling the ocean “the 900-pound gorilla of global warming and climate change,” oceanographer Josh Willis of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., says he’s excited to finally see long-term climate projections homing in on the ocean’s role.

“How the oceans affect the great ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica could mean the difference between getting two feet and six feet of sea level rise in the coming century,” observes Willis
