Heavy Rain Falling In West Texas
Yesterday, Romm declared that only a hurricane could bring rain to Texas.
Since he made that remark, almost four inches of rain has fallen in some locations east of Katherine Hayhoe’s office.

Climate Researcher : Warmer Water Now Sinks Under Colder Water
Warming ocean layers will undermine polar ice sheets: study
LOS ANGELES, July 3 (Xinhua) — Warming of the ocean’s subsurface layers will melt underwater portions of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets faster than previously thought, increasing the sea level more than already projected, a new study suggests.
The subsurface ocean layers surrounding the polar ice sheets will warm substantially as global warming progresses, according to the study led by researchers from the University of Arizona (UA).
According to the study, the subsurface ocean along the Greenland coast could increase as much as 3.6 F (2 C) by 2100.
Look for warm water to sink under the anomalously cold water off the coast of Greenland.
Also, look for the Bristol Balloon Fiesta next month to start using cold air balloons, now that we know that warm fluids are more dense than cold ones.

GIA : Old Jedi Mind Trick
Sea level is a measure of the average elevation of the ocean surface.
Sea level is not a measure of the average depth of the ocean. It is not a measure of the volume of the ocean. It is not a measure of the elevation of the ocean floor. Adding 0.3 mm/year to sea level numbers based on the justification that someone thinks the ocean floor is sinking by that amount, is simply not legitimate.
The ocean floor could sink for 1,000,000 years, but that will not drown Manhattan.

Hiding The Sea Level Decline
From : http://www.aviso.oceanobs.com/
The blink comparator below flashes between the standard Aviso multi-mission sea level graph – and what it should look like.
I removed the bogus GIA, made the inconvenient Envisat data visible, and normalized the left edge of Envisat in the same fashion as was done for the other data sets.
Isn’t science grand, when the purveyors feel like it is OK to obfuscate critically important data?

NPR : Manhattan To Drown Soon
“This mean that both Greenland and Antarctica are probably going to melt faster than the scientific community previously thought,” co-author Jonathan T. Overpeck said in a statement.
Overpeck, co-director of the University of Arizona’s Institute of the Environment, said: “This paper adds to the evidence that we could have sea level rise by the end of this century of around 1 meter and a good deal more in succeeding centuries.”
The subsurface ocean along the Greenland coast could warm as much as 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit (2 Celsius) by 2100, the researchers reported.
This means that these researchers could probably be more desperate for funding than the skeptic community previously thought.

Los Alamos Evacuations Lifted
Los Alamos County reports that as of 8 AM July 3, 2011, all normal access points to the Los Alamos Town site are now open with the following exceptions, State Route 4 remains closed west of Monterey Drive South and all access points to the Jemez Mountains remain closed.
Firefighters made good progress yesterday. Overcast skies and higher relative humidity played a vital role in moderating fire behavior. Some rain was received on portions of the fire. There was no major movement of the fire today, and firefighters were able to get handline around the northeast corner of the fire. A lightning strike started a small fire east of White Rock which was quickly contained by numerous fire resources.
