The MSM has begun their attacks on Michele Bachmann. The LA Times is trying to link her to a serial killer, because she got John Wayne’s birthplace wrong.
But the day was marred slightly by a slip that quickly erupted into a media squall all its own. In an interview with Fox News’ Carl Cameron, Bachmann referred to Waterloo as the home of John Wayne. But Wayne, it was soon pointed out, wasn’t from Waterloo, but from Winterset, Iowa, a town more than 100 miles away.
John Wayne Gacy, the so-called “killer clown” who murdered more than 30 young men in Chicago during the 1970s and stored their bodies in his home, lived in Waterloo, where he started down his sordid criminal path with a sexual assault conviction.
Asked about the misstep by Hannity, Bachmann ignored (as any candidate would) the whole serial-killer thing, and simply reiterated that on John Wayne, the actor, she had gotten the state right.
“Clearly he was born in Iowa,” Bachmann said. “The point is John Wayne represents patriotism –and great American values.” (She also told CNN Tuesday that she “misspoke” about Wayne’s hometown.)
The Ministry Of Truth is busy trying to rewrite and ignore history.
Hansen’s temperature forecasts are a bust, so their only hope to keep the scam alive is to convince people that the weather is getting worse due to a non-descript man-made phenomenon known as “climate change.”
The key to convincing people that the weather is getting worse is to make sure that people are unaware of the history of weather. Controlling history is exactly what George Orwell wrote about in “1984.”
In order to do my part for Oceania, I have been updating this page with as much historical information about bad weather as I have time for. Thanks for all the readers who have been contributing.
On the evening of October 8, 1871 the worst recorded forest fire in North American history raged through Northeastern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, destroying millions of dollars worth of property and timberland, and taking between 1,200 and 2,400 lives.
The great Midwestern city of Chicago also happened to endure a terrible fire that same fateful night, and for whatever reasons — an irresistibly charming legend about a cow and a lantern among them — the Chicago Fire became part of the national consciousness while the Peshtigo tragedy gradually slipped into obscurity
What caused the great fires that plagued the Upper Midwest in 1871?
Weather: prolonged and widespread drought and high temperatures, capped off by a cyclonic storm in early October
Friday rant: Dumb and glum edition

If Eskimos have 26 different words for Eskimo pies, Americans ought to have 2600 words for stupid. Honestly, I simply don’t know what to make of us. Anybody up for burning down our houses, sowing our soil with salt and selling our children into bondage? We might as well! About 71% of the earth’s surface is oceans, and now we’re ruining that too
Climate change (yes us), ocean acidification (carbon again! yes us), and overfishing (guess who?) should manage to turn this vast resource into a liquid desert. Yay team! We can do anything, gosh darn it, when we put our mindlessness to it! We sit at the pinnacle of human technological ingenuity, and never tire of patting ourselves on the back for it, and here we are, doing BY FAR the most damage to the planet of any generation in history.
But wait! Maybe it’s not true! Maybe American Exceptionalism means that WISHES can be FISHES! Close your eyes and pretend REAL HARD!

A major theme of Nineteen Eighty-Four is censorship, which is displayed especially in the Ministry of Truth, where photographs are doctored and public archives rewritten.
Here is what Joe says.
If you knew about the climate and nation’s weather the way I have to, you would see the links between what happened from 1925 to 1950 and what is going on now. During that time, we were in a warm version of the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic turned warm, and the weather went haywire. And there were other challenges as great as the weather facing the nation.
I get a kick out of those blaming carbon dioxide for the weather problems. Why? Because it has happened before and will happen again. The Earth has been going through 30 years of a warm Pacific Ocean; that reversed in 2007 and, lo and behold, weather similar to the last time it happened showed up. Tornado deaths in this nation were greatest in the 1950s, for instance. And there have been far worse tornado disasters worldwide spread out evenly over the centuries.
In any case, back to the U.S. The Atlantic will reverse in 10 to 15 years, and the results will be similar to the last time – the 1960s and ’70s – the two oceans were cold in tandem. Throw two other factors – low solar activity and increased volcanic cycles – into what I referred to on national TV more than three years ago as “the Triple Crown of Cooling” and you have the recipe for what could be a rapid planetary cool-down beyond the forecast I have: that by 2030, the global temps return to where they were in the ’70s. Walking from East Halls to Rec Hall could get a man frozen as if on the Russian Front in World War II.
The snowfall records being broken in the Pacific Northwest now go back to the early 1950s; as the Pacific reversed to cooler, on came the snows. Recall five years ago the lamentations about no snow in the Rockies, and, of course, the blame was global warming. Now that it’s snowing, it’s global warming. Drought, floods, anything under the sun is global warming. My suggestion as to the answer comes from the book of Ecclesiastes: There is nothing new under the sun. Of course, that would not sit well with anyone wishing to save the planet from man-made demons in the air – and getting paid to do so.
Global warming decreasing salt in sea
London – Climate change will turn the Baltic Sea into an increasingly freshwater sea and devastate its marine life, according to scientists.
A multinational study has found that an increase in precipitation in the region would lead the water in the Baltic to become less salty. Such a decrease in salinity would change the make-up of sea life, which is already suffering from over-fishing and harmful chemicals.
Professor Chris Reid, of the Marine Institute, University of Plymouth, who was involved in the study, said: “Due to global warming, it is predicted there will be an increase in precipitation in the river basins that flow into the Baltic Sea. As a result – because it’s an enclosed sea with a very narrow exit – the sea will become fresher. We predict this will happen over the next 100 years.”
