Obama’s Mentor Having Problems
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) — While President Hugo Chavez has been recovering from pelvic surgery in Cuba, his troubles at home in Venezuela have been accumulating.
On top of 23 percent inflation and growing government debt, worsening blackouts have emerged as a serious dilemma, forcing Chavez’s government to announce rationing measures including rolling power outages in some parts of the country.
Chavez is increasingly focused on shoring up support ahead of his 2012 re-election bid, and some analysts say his domestic woes seem to be limiting his international reach in Latin America.
“President Chavez is going through a very difficult time,” said Maria Teresa Romero, a professor of international studies at the Central University of Venezuela. “He’s not the same Hugo Chavez he was four, five years ago.”

NASA Lead Scientist Determines A Trend From One Point
You can’t make this stuff up …..
“In 2009 for the first time, we were able to figure out (from satellites) what the thickness of the Arctic ice was – and we are finding that it is thinner now.”

A 19th Century New Mexico Fire Of Particular Interest
The Sangre De Cristo mountain range runs from Santa Fe, New Mexico up to the Arkansas River Valley in Colorado. One of its features is the world’s tallest Aspen trees – located in huge groves near the Santa Fe Ski Basin. I used to work as a wilderness ranger in those mountains.

The Aspen groves are the result of massive forest fires which occurred during the 1890s. This was one of them.

Green Groups Tell The IPCC That They Are Dangerously Out Of Control
This was signed by more than 100 environmental organizations.
Rajendra K. Pachauri
Chairman of the IPCC
C/O World Meteorological Organization
7bis Avenue de la Paix
C.P. 2300
CH- 1211 Geneva 2, SwitzerlandDear Dr. Pachauri,
The undersigned organizations would like to express our concerns about the upcoming IPCC joint working group expert meeting on geoengineering to be held in Lima, Peru, June 20-22, 2011.
Geoengineering, the intentional large-scale manipulation of the Earth’s systems to modify the climate, is one of the most serious issues the international community will face in the decades ahead. The prospects of artificially changing the chemistry of our oceans to absorb more CO2, modifying the Earth’s radiative balance, devising new carbon sinks in fragile ecosystems, redirecting hurricanes and other extreme weather events are alarming. The potential for accidents, dangerous experiments, inadequate risk assessment, unexpected impacts, unilateralism, private profiteering, disruption of agriculture, inter-state conflict, illegitimate political goals and negative consequences for the global South is high. The likelihood that geoengineering will provide a safe, lasting, democratic and peaceful solution to the climate crisis is non-existent.

Arrogant Fools Who Call Themselves “Scientists”
Global Warming
The Earth is warming and human activity is the primary cause. Climate disruptions put our food and water supply at risk, endanger our health, jeopardize our national security, and threaten other basic human needs. Some impacts—such as record high temperatures, melting glaciers, and severe flooding and droughts—are already becoming increasingly common across the country and around the world. So far, our national leaders are failing to act quickly to reduce heat-trapping emissions
Let me rephrase :
We are fortunate to have lived through a 30 year spell of unusually agreeable weather, and now we get hysterical over every weather event. Like our ancient ancestors, we superstitiously believe that our behavior is responsible for bad weather. If you think we are a bunch of weak-minded fools – you are correct.

Most US States Set Their Record High Temperature Prior To 1940
http://www.usatoday.com/weather/wheat7.htm
Only one state set their record high during Hansen’s “hottest decade ever.” Forty-four states set their record high temperature before global warming became dangerous at 350 ppm.
