My Arctic Ice Forecast

I am not going to make a prediction of September ice extent this year. It is a crap shoot, based on 15% ice concentration – which is highly dependent on the winds in August and early September.

More meaningful measures are ice thickness and ice age. PIPS is dead, so I can’t make any more comparisons of thickness, but NSIDC provides ice age data.

My forecast is that come the end of September, the amount of multi-year ice will againĀ  increase relative to last year, as it has done every year since 2008. In 2013 there should be an increase in the amount of five year old ice, because that is when the 2008 ice will have aged five years.

Satellite Sea Level Data Is Crap

The reason that some satellites show a rise in sea level is because of a “hot spot” north of Australia which skews their numbers way up. Tide gauge data from the region shows nothing of the sort.

Hiding The Decline In Sea Level

When warmists don’t like data, they simply throw it out – or hide it best they can. A great example is the Aviso “multi-mission” sea level graph, which purports to support the idea that sea level is rising almost 3 mm/year.

But if you look closely at the graph, you can see that the most sophisticated satellite (Envisat) has been painted an almost invisible shade of light yellow.

Below, I hue shifted the same graph, and it becomes clear why they did this trickery. There has been essentially no sea level rise for the last seven years.

Where There’s No Smoke, There Is No Fire

One big global warming lie this week is that the “west is burning up.” In fact, quite the opposite is true. There have been very few fires this year, because most of the west (outside of Arizona) has been extremely wet.

Clegg Wants To Destroy The Environment In Ireland – To Stop Global Warming

Next election cycle, can we please get rid of these morons?

Developments like these would be controversial, however. Construction of wind turbines generates strong opposition and plans to build clusters in mainland Britain have been greeted with fury. Opponents say wind turbines rarely work to capacity; spoil some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes; and kill large numbers of wild birds.

Supporters argue that wind farms help to reduce dependence on carbon-emitting fossil-fuel plants and are non-polluting. Nevertheless, the prospect of giant turbines peppering the wild, craggy coasts of the Dingle Peninsula, Kerry and Galway will provoke a furious response.
