Gore Got One Thing Right

throughout much of American history, we have made, I believe, better decisions than any other nation in the history of the world, because in our democracy, individuals were available to take part in a collective effort to find the best available evidence tested in reasoned discourse and then express their opinions in ways that influence the public mind.

One of the best decisions ever made in this country was made by Katherine Harris in Florida – to not let Gore defraud his way into the White House.

Of course, Gore went on to explain most of the weather history of the planet never could have happened.

And the scientists are now in a shift; theoretic saying that, if you ask the question, would these events have occurred in the absence of manmade global warming, the answer is almost certainly no.

Which scientists are saying that Al? He has gotten so used to lying to impressionable children that he just can’t turn it off.

Texas drought has farmers on the ropes
West Texas farmers and ranchers struggle to survive the worst drought in the region since the Dust Bowl of the 1930s.

May 22, 2011|By Julie Cart, Los Angeles Times

The wind in West Texas is famously powerful and incessant. But this year, more big blows than anyone can remember have roared through, stripping away precious topsoil and carrying off another season of hope for farmers and ranchers.

Where does that claim come from? Precipitation records for West Texas show that the 1950s was considerably drier than the 1930s or the present.

Dangerous Setup For This Afternoon/Tonight

WRF Water vapor forecast for this afternoon. There is a very tight gradient from central Texas to central Kansas which could lead to violent weather and tornadoes, like in Alabama a few weeks ago. Cold dry air from the west wedging under warm humid air in the East. By midnight it should push further east past Oklahoma City.

May In Nuuk Among The Ten Coldest On Record

Nuuk, Greenland has averaged -1C so far in May, which should place it among the ten coldest Mays on record – going back to 1881.

Earlier this month, Hillary and the Arctic Council were making daily press releases from Nuuk about how global warming was “much worse than expected” in Greenland.

April was the third coldest on record in Nuuk, at -8.5C.

The amount of deceit is clearly “much worse than expected” but global warming itself has fallen flat.

Prophets Of Doom Make Math Errors, Scale Back Apocalypse Forecasts

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110524/ap_on_re_us/us_apocalypse_saturday

We conclude that most climate models mix heat too efficiently into the deep ocean and as a result underestimate the negative forcing by human-made aerosols. Aerosol climate forcing today is inferred to be -1.6 \pm 0.3 W/m2, implying substantial aerosol indirect climate forcing via cloud changes. Continued failure to quantify the specific origins of this large forcing is untenable

Obama Adopts The Bush Doctrine

Obama got elected by running against the Bush Doctrine, and now he claims it for his own.

President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron kick off two days of diplomacy this morning by pledging to work against repressive regimes in the Middle East — by force if necessary.

In a sternly worded column in The Times of London, the two leaders liken the effort to free Arab peoples from authoritarianism to the Cold War and the fall of the Berlin Wall in the 1980s.

Bush sets sights on Mid-East freedom
By Marian Wilkinson, Herald Correspondent in Washington and agencies
November 7, 2003

Under pressure over the rising insurgency in Iraq, President George Bush is calling on Americans to support a new vision of “freedom” in the Middle East that makes a break with six decades of US policy of supporting autocratic regimes.

Mr Bush’s National Security Adviser, Condoleezza Rice, said that in a speech Mr Bush was to make yesterday he would promote “the new opportunity for a forward strategy for freedom in the Middle East”.

His call is being compared with president Ronald Reagan’s appeal to eastern Europe in 1983 to abandon communism.

Dr Rice said: “After 60 years of trying to find stability through regimes that were not devoted to political liberty for their people, what we found is that we did not buy security of stability but rather frustration and pent-up emotions in a region that has fallen behind in terms of prosperity and in fact continues to produce ideologies of hatred.”

Mr Bush was due to deliver his speech to mark the 20th anniversary of the National Endowment for Democracy.

Unbelievable Snowpack In The West

100% or normal snowpack is enough to bring most rivers close to flood stage. We are seeing 200%-500% across much of the west.

Thank goodness Lake Powell has plenty of reserve storage capacity to absorb the inevitable floodwaters.
