Europe’s Envisat satellite measured a drop in sea level of almost 20 mm since the beginning of 2010, and is now lower than at the start of their record eight years ago.
Meanwhile, back at Hansen’s global warming propaganda factory, they were telling us :
Record Melting in Greenland during 2010
2010 was an exceptional year for Greenland’s ice cap. Melting started early and stretched later in the year than usual. Little snow fell to replenish the losses. By the end of the season, much of southern Greenland had set a new record, with melting that lasted 50 days longer than average.
Hansen also told us :
2010 Is Officially the Hottest Year on Record
Well, it’s a tie actually. The final tallies are in and 2010 is even with 2005 as the warmest year on record. NASA and NOAA independently released their own reports yesterday, confirming the improbable and remarkable statistical tie. NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies explains:
The two years differed by less than 0.018 degrees Fahrenheit. The difference is smaller than the uncertainty in comparing the temperatures of recent years, putting them into a statistical tie.
If Greenland had record melt and the Earth was the hottest it has ever been, why did sea level decline dramatically back to pre-2004 levels? If Greenland were melting at rates never seen before, sea level should be shooting through the roof, not dropping like a rock. Where did all the record meltwater go? Where did all the additional heat in the oceans go?
Either these people are grossly incompetent or they are fabricating data.
Almost split my side laughing over this one ….

While doing research 12 or 13 years ago, I met Jim Hansen, the scientist who in 1988 predicted the greenhouse effect before Congress. I went over to the window with him and looked out on Broadway in New York City and said, “If what you’re saying about the greenhouse effect is true, is anything going to look different down there in 20 years?” He looked for a while and was quiet and didn’t say anything for a couple seconds. Then he said, “Well, there will be more traffic.” I, of course, didn’t think he heard the question right. Then he explained, “The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds. And the same birds won’t be there. The trees in the median strip will change.” Then he said, “There will be more police cars.” Why? “Well, you know what happens to crime when the heat goes up.”
And so far, over the last 10 years, we’ve had 10 of the hottest years on record.
Didn’t he also say that restaurants would have signs in their windows that read, “Water by request only.”
Under the greenhouse effect, extreme weather increases. Depending on where you are in terms of the hydrological cycle, you get more of whatever you’re prone to get. New York can get droughts, the droughts can get more severe and you’ll have signs in restaurants saying “Water by request only.”
When did he say this will happen?
Within 20 or 30 years. And remember we had this conversation in 1988 or 1989.
Does he still believe these things?
Yes, he still believes everything. I talked to him a few months ago and he said he wouldn’t change anything that he said then.
Hansen thinks that hot water is hiding in the bottom of the sea, based on his super-special theory that warm fluids sink.
Given that sea level rise has greatly slowed or stopped over the last five years, that we are told that Greenland is melting at unprecedented rates, and that Hansen says that temperatures are at a record high – it is clear that neither heat nor water is missing.
What is missing are brains and/or integrity – of those making the claims.
Hansen forecast up to 75 metres of sea level rise, with several metres “dead certain.”
By contrast, Europe’s Envisat satellite shows that sea level has dropped 20 mm since the start of 2010, and is lower now than it was eight years ago. Looks like we get to 75 metres in about – infinity years.
Which man is more dangerous?
This guy says that the world is doomed due to man’s sin, but if you believe you will be saved.
The guy below also says that the world is doomed due to man’s sin, but in order for you to be saved you have to convert everyone on the planet – or at least force your belief system upon them.
Sound familiar?
if carbon dioxide continues to increase at current rates. Coral reefs, harbouring a quarter of ocean species, are threatened.
– James Hansen
Earth to Jim … corals evolved with CO2 levels 10-20X higher than at present, and temperatures 10C higher than at present. They have survived all the catastrophes nature has thrown at them for the last few hundred million years. If conditions become unfavorable in one location, they can and will migrate.
Clearly, if we burn all fossil fuels, we will destroy the planet we know. Carbon dioxide would increase to 500 ppm or more. We would set the planet on a course to the ice-free state, with sea level 75 metres higher.
75 metres? Someone sounds certifiable to me.
The press hides their hatred of Christianity behind a thin veneer of imagined rationality.
http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/05/21/doomsday/?hpt=C2
Interesting seeing how the press is having a field day making fun of the May 21 “end of the world as we know it” nonsense, but are equally as enthusiastic about believing in Hansen’s nearly identical apocalypse fantasies.
On a related note, the press loves to make fun of people who don’t believe in evolution – and at the same time are perfectly happy to deny the basis of Darwin’s theories. i.e. adaptation to environmental change, natural selection and survival of the fittest. The press is convinced that if anything changes, we will all perish.
The left imagines themselves to be rational, when in fact their belief system is rooted in prejudice and self-loathing.
