Disturbing Evidence Of Climate Change In Arizona

http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/cag3/az.html

From 1900 to 1925, April temperatures in Arizona cooled. Over the next 25 years they warmed. Over the next 25 years they cooled. Over the next 15 years they warmed. Over the next twenty years they cooled.

It becomes clear that stabilization of Arizona’s climate will require that we both increase and decrease CO2.

The Hansen Effect In Oregon

In 1988, James Hansen appeared before Congress and warned that we were going to burn up. Oregon took the lead, and since then April temperatures have plummeted by five degrees, which has lead to the record spring snowpack.

Here is a presentation Hansen gave at the University of Oregon, where he mentioned CO2 about once every five seconds for eight minutes. Obsess much Jim?

George Taylor Lost His Job Over This

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/

George Taylor was the Oregon state climatologist, until he disputed the deeply held AGW religious principle that snowfall is doomed in the Cascades.

As in the days of Galileo, it is dangerous to speak the truth within earshot of the church leaders.

Rolling Stone Praises Arnie’s Morality, Compares Him With Clinton

Arnie left the state bankrupt with 15% unemployment and a knocked up gubernatorial maid, but the good news is that he was as moral as Bill Clinton.

Schwarzenegger Was Good on Climate Change!

If there is one thing that President Clinton taught us, it’s that you shouldn’t judge a politician by the actions of his dick alone.  This is certainly true of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who recently split with his wife of 25 years, Maria Shriver, and who admitted yesterday to fathering a child with a household staffer ten years ago.

So if we’re going to get all moral about Arnold, how about adding this to the mix: when it came to advancing the cause of clean energy and climate change awareness during his eight years as governor of California, Schwarzeneger made every other politician – including President Obama – look like a girly-man.  Schwarzenegger made energy and climate issues his number one priority during his eight years in office, and although he didn’t kow-tow to environmental dogma, he also never flinched from a fight with Big Oil and Big Coal.  More important, he was the one politician in America who most clearly understood that dealing with climate change is the greatest challenge we face as a civilization.  And he had no patience for anti-scientific morons and Tea Bagger denialsim.

The Middle East is on the verge of a complete meltdown, but climate change is the real threat. Next year might be dry or wet or warm or cold. We should be terrified.

We Are All Stupid Now

Romm hysterically reports :

The Gulf Coast region, still reeling from the oil-laden assault on its ecosystem and livelihoods, is now bracing for what’s being called one of the worst cases of flooding since the 1920s and “the nation’s slowest moving natural disaster.” Economists are projecting billions of dollars in damages just as local Gulf-dependent industries such as fisheries, aquaculture, and tourism are struggling back to profitability after the devastating blows from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the BP oil spill.

“one of the worst cases of flooding since the 1920s” With a definitive statement like that, how can any rational person doubt that this is unprecedented and due to CO2?

Holdren’s Ice Free Winter Has Arrived

What are we arguing about? The ice is already gone.

After hearings, a massive iron-mining and associated infrastructure project is expected to get under way in remote northern Baffin Island, where railroads are aliens. This is a complicated project on the grand scale of an Alaska Pipeline.

And it’s all possible largely because of global warming, which has left shipping lanes in the Arctic open year-round — and also partly because of rising commodity prices and demand for raw materials in developing countries far from Canada’s far north. The Mary River project is set to extract some of the purest iron ore anywhere.

No Math Or Science Skills Required At New Scientist

In its 2007 forecasts of sea-level rise, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change famously excluded contributions from the Greenland and Antarctica ice sheets because the physics were too poorly understood and complex to model. As a result, the IPCC’s estimate that seas could rise by 18 to 59 centimetres by 2100 is almost certainly too low. Indeed, levels are already rising faster than the models predicted.

Various sea level measurements range from 7cm/century up to 32 cm/century. Nothing close to 59.

Using data from the last decade, Stephen Price of the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico has shown that his modelled ice sheet moves in the same way as the real one does. In particular, the model accurately reproduces how disruptions to the edge of the ice sheet leads to a large initial movement, which is followed by several decades of smaller movement.

Price has calculated that changes which the ice sheet experienced between 1997 and 2007 in response to a thermal disruption in the early 2000s will eventually lead to a rise of 0.6 centimetres. Assuming that similar thermal disruptions happen every decade, the moving ice sheet will raise sea levels by about 4.5 centimetres by 2100.

If Greenland is only going to contribute 4.5 cm of sea level rise, where is the rest of the multi-metre sea level rise going to come from? Hansen says it is dead certain. The alarmist sea level game is beyond pathetic.

Exceptionally Warm In Greenland

The UK may be cold, but it’s still a warm world, says Met Office chief
By Steve Connor, Science Editor
Tuesday, 21 December 2010

Professor Slingo, who is in charge of Britain’s biggest research team investigating climate change, insisted that global warming was a reality despite the bitterly cold temperatures and heavy snowfalls that have brought much of the country to a standstill.

“This is not a global event; it is very much confined to the UK and Western Europe and if you look over at Greenland, for example, you see that it’s exceptionally warm there,” she said.

Foxes On The Sidewalk

One of the unexplained mysteries of CO2 is the rash of foxes causally walking around on sidewalks in broad daylight in my neighborhood. I’ve seen four of them already today. We used to just see them occasionally at night, but they have gotten very bold recently. I have small dogs, and the presence of the foxes is a little troubling.

Global warming is unequivocal, so I know it has something to do with CO2.
