Security Takes A Back Seat To Getting A Bump In The Polls
Robert Gates: We Had Agreed We Wouldn’t Release Details About the Operation Against OBL But ‘That All Fell Apart’
“a week ago Sunday, in the Situation Room, we all agreed that we would not release any operational details from the effort to take out bin Laden,” Gates said. “That all fell apart on Monday — the next day.”

Obama Can’t Read The Teleprompter With Cameras Flashing
NEW YORK – The White House said it is ending its long-running practice of having presidents re-enact televised speeches for news photographers following major addresses to the country, a little-known arrangement that fed suggestions of fakery when Barack Obama announced the death of Osama bin Laden.
There are conflicting accounts on whether technology exists to take photographs without distracting the president. One idea could be using mirrors so photographers could do their jobs out of the president’s sight line, the White House’s Earnest said.

Cambodians Better Informed Than Most Climate Scientists
The majority of Cambodians have little understanding of the causes of climate change, due to a lack of information, a new poll has found.
In a survey by the BBC World Service Trust of 2,401 Cambodians from all walks of life, about 85 percent said they had heard of climate change, although they associated it with disease, farming troubles and drought.
Very few respondents connected climate change or global warming with industry or vehicle use, according to the report, “Understanding Public Perception of Climate Change in Cambodia.”
Making them vastly better informed than “97%” of climate scientists.

White House Caught Lying – Yet Again
They told us that they would have taken him alive, except that he fired at them from behind his wife – whom he used as a human shield. That was not true.
Then they told us that they would have taken him alive, except that he resisted. That also was not true.
Then they told us that he would had to have been naked, so that they knew he didn’t have a suicide belt on. Turns out now that he was naked.
details about the photos that have not been made public yet — that bin Laden was in his underwear at the time of his death.
They also told us that it was too dark to see if he had a suicide vest on, right after they told us he looked scared and confused – just before they shot him in his head with explosive ammo. In other words, they could see the details of his facial expression, but couldn’t see that he was naked.
What did he know that made it so important to have him off the witness stand?

CU Defies Conservation Of Mass
CU and NASA have decided that they aren’t happy with the sea level numbers, so they are adding 0.3 mm/year to bring which brings the numbers back above 3mm /year. The logic they are using is that land is rising because of glacial rebound.
Sounds pretty (cough cough) clever until you realize that the Earth is still bound by physical law, even in these desperate days of CO2. If the land mass is increasing in height in one region, then it must be decreasing somewhere else. For instance, Scotland is rising while southern England is falling.
The law of conservation of mass, also known as the principle of mass/matter conservation, states that the mass of a closed system (in the sense of a completely isolated system) will remain constant over time. This is much like the conservation of energy in the sense that both keep the energy or mass enclosed in the system (hence, “conservation”). The mass of an isolated system cannot be changed as a result of processes acting inside the system. The law implies that mass cannot be created or destroyed, although it may be rearranged in space and changed into different types of particles; and that for any chemical process in a closed system, the mass of the reactants must equal the mass of the products.
In global warming science, CO2 fantasy supersedes physical law.

Recent Sea Level Rise At Scripps
Every few weeks, one publicity hound or another at Scripps (La Jolla) makes a press release warning of sea level rise threatening the California coast. Here is the automatically generated graph from the new CU sea levels site – for 34N 120W
Sea level is not rising in La Jolla.

Washington Post : Greenlanders Planting Vegetables
If you look closely, you can see heads of lettice popping up through the snow in Nuuk
Thursday, May 12 2011
NUUK, Greenland — Few places on Earth have seen starker changes in weather than this icebound island straddling the Arctic Circle.
The tiny capital of Nuuk is bracing for record numbers of visitors this year; the retreating sea ice means a longer tourist season and more cruise ships from the United States. Hunters are boasting of more and bigger caribou, and the annual cod migration is starting earlier and lasting longer.
In the far south, farmers are trying their hand at an exotic form of agriculture: growing vegetables.
April was the coldest on record in Nuuk.

Nuuk normally is ice free, this year being no exception.

How much do people get paid to make up global warming nonsense for the Washington Post?

“Let us know if you spot any bugs in the new web pages”
Here’s a bug ….
One important change in these releases is that we are now adding a correction of 0.3 mm/year due to Glacial Isostatic Adjustment (GIA), so you may notice that the rate of sea level rise is now 0.3 mm/year higher than earlier releases.
An upwards correction on NASA financed climate data? Shocker – we’ve never seen that before.
Here is another bug. Your numbers are much too high. By a factor of four.
http://www.aviso.oceanobs.com/
Bottom line? You are averaging large numbers (red areas below) having a very large uncertainty, with a group of small numbers – and coming up with a nearly meaningless global average. Hope this helps.
