MSM Makes A Shocking Discovery : “we’ve had weather for a long time”

Tornadoes and Global Warming

Were the tragic deaths in Alabama linked to climate change?  CoyoteBlog makes a pretty convincing case that no, they aren’t–and that in fact, tornadoes, which are caused by masses of cold air running into warm air, are probably among the last things we’d expect to increase as the globe warms:

Global Warming Raises Vermont Lake Back to 288 PPM Levels

In 1869, CO2 was 288 ppm.

(Reuters) – Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin declared a state of emergency on Thursday, as Lake Champlain was forecast to crest at record levels by the weekend, officials said.

The lake has been above record flood levels for more than a week, with waters expected to remain high into mid-May, said Ed Capone, National Weather Service coordination hydrologist.

Heavy rain for the last 10 days coupled with snow melt pushed Lake Champlain water levels in some areas above record flooding of 102.1 feet set in 1869, said Capone

Shockingly Low Water Levels In The Colorado River

It has been too cold for the snow to melt. When it does start melting, the 150% of normal snowpack is going to cause some flooding.

Lies, Damned Lies, And Government Statistics

The dumbing down of the American school system was probably intentional.

Economy adds jobs for a third straight month

Higher oil prices and fears about a slowdown in the recovery fail to deter employers, who add 244,000 new jobs to the economy in April across a wide spectrum of industries. The gains are tempered by a rise in the unemployment rate to 9%, up from 8.8%.

Global Warming 5-04: Climate Scientists Told: ‘Stop Speaking in Code!’
May 05, 2011 03:00 AM EDT

Climate Scientists heard at the Copenhagen Arctic warming conference that it is their fault officials from around the world do nothing. Scientists are speaking scientific jargon (“speaking in code”) to them, and they don’t understand it.

“Fall off a chair, you’ll hit the floor,” said James White, University of Colorado. “Keep adding greenhouse gasses to the atmosphere, you’ll heat up the planet. Stop talking about ‘anthropomorphic warming’ and say it in English… ‘Human caused warming.'”

The planet “heats up” every day when the Sun comes out.

Some days we are told that CO2 is making the weather cold. Other days we are told that CO2  is making the weather warm. Without some actual evidence that the Earth is heating by a dangerous amount, James White’s statement is pointless.

The Place No One Knew

Prior to the filling of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon was considered by some to be the most beautiful section of the Grand Canyon system. Photographer Eliot Porter published a nice photo essay of the canyon before it was flooded.

Water flowing into the Grand Canyon is now clear and cold, because it comes out of the bottom of Glen Canyon Dam. Prior to the filling of the lake, the water was warm and full of silt. Lee’s Ferry, below the dam, now has some of the largest trout in the world because of the cold clear water. No bait allowed.
