The Arctic Ocean, in the winter and spring season, is one of the most extreme environments on earth.

Government Warns Of Drought – Nature Responds With Record Snowpack

Looks like the Bureau Of Reclamation wants an excuse to build more dams.

A new report from the Bureau of Reclamation says runoff to major western river basins, including the San Joaquin and Colorado that supply California, could drop 8 to 14 percent overall by 2050.

And while the agency’s projections show that another California water source, the Sacramento River, could see a slight increase of 2.5 percent, the state picture remains grim.

Arctic Explorer : “Global warming a myth”

Global warming is a myth perpetrated by scientists and politicians with a vested interest, claimed an Arctic explorer presenting in Fort Smith last week.

Laurie Dexter, a former Anglican minister in Fort Smith who has hiked to the North Pole and now works on eco-tourism trips around the Arctic, said his personal experience has shown him that Arctic sea ice is not melting nearly as fast as many scientists and world leaders claim.

Dexter told an audience at Aurora College’s Thebacha Campus that the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is a result of global temperatures, not a cause.

He said scientific data on how carbon in the atmosphere relates to temperature has been skewed by scientists who profit from global warming, and repeated by world leaders using global warming for political gain.

“There is an industry of global warming,” Dexter said. “There has been a deliberate deception.”

Arctic explorer Laurie Dexter says the plight of polar bears has been greatly exaggerated, as has man-made climate change, by people with a vested interest in the ‘global warming industry’.

“The World Wildlife Fund is one of the most dishonest organizations,” Dexter said. “This is the first time in history a species has been declared endangered when its population is so high.”

Washington Post : “It may be the case that more tornadoes are being noticed today”

There is no clear indication that severe thunderstorms and tornadoes have become more common due to climate change, in part because of major limitations in relying on the historical record of severe weather reports. While the number of tornadoes recorded in the U.S. has just about doubled during the past 50 years, the number of strong tornadoes (EF2 and above) has actually been decreasing. It may be the case that more tornadoes are being noticed today, given a network of trained storm spotters and a national Doppler radar network, both of which didn’t exist as recently as the early 1980s.

“If” Based Evidence

http://www.lariatnews.com/

People can come up with a billion disaster scenarios based on “if this happened.” That is not science – science requires evidence. The graph below shows sea level outside Barnett’s office – no change in level for at least 30 years.

The Boundary Line

The image above shows the humidity forecast for Wednesday night in the SE US. It was generated on NCAR’s WRF weather model, using GFS forecast boundary conditions. Note that southeast of the frontal boundary, H2O concentration in the atmosphere is very high – between 15,000 and 20,000 ppm (compared to 390 ppm of CO2.) Northwest of the frontal boundary H2O concentration is much lower – between 3,000 and 6,000 ppm, which is still 10-20X higher than the amount of CO2.

The convergence of cold dry air and warm moist air will produce violent weather along the frontal boundary.

H2O is a much more potent greenhouse gas than CO2 and it is also much more abundant and much more variable than CO2. The graph below plots the four day forecast change in humidity in NW Georgia starting early this morning. CO2 is plotted in pink across the bottom.

H2O concentrations can change by 15,000 ppm in a matter of minutes – but of course that isn’t important. What is important is 100ppm of CO2 changing over a century.

What Causes Severe Weather?

I have discussed numerous times that severe weather is caused by differences in energy, normally across frontal boundaries. April has been characterized by very cold temperatures in half the US, and very warm temperatures in the other half. As cold air from the north pushes under warm moist air in the south, we get violent weather in the south.

According to the Weather Channel, April has surpassed 1974 in terms of numbers of tornadoes. Part of this is due to better detection, but mainly it is due to strong contrasts in temperature.

Is this due to global warming? Of course not. If every place was warm there would be very little weather – like Hawaii. The reason for the stormy weather is La Nina. This obvious fact won’t stop the global warming community from piling on the BS even deeper ….
