Bill Clinton : “I Never Had Climate Relations With That Weather”

It was actually CO2 on Monica’s dress.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former U.S. President Bill Clinton announced on Wednesday the merger of their environmental groups, hoping to make it the most prominent climate policy organization in the world.

The new organization would combine C40, a coalition of international cities run by Bloomberg, and the Clinton Climate Initiative, a project of Clinton’ s philanthropic foundation, into a single organization, which will focus on population-rich cities to address global warming.

“I am elated by this. I think we really have a chance to make a difference,” said Bill Clinton during a press conference at Gracie Mansion, adding that “together we are proving it is possible to create jobs and grow economies through reduced emissions.”

C40 and the Clinton Climate Initiative both seek to cut carbon emissions through programs that reduce energy use in buildings, promote mass transit and reuse greenhouse gases emitted by landfills.

The newly combined organization is said to have a budget of about 15 million U.S. dollars. The group will have main offices in New York, Los Angeles and London.

Seal Population Has Quadrupled In The Last Forty Years

Another alarmist author demonstrates that he/she is incapable of coherent thought.

Canada’s Seal Hunt Killed by Climate Change

…………………………………..

The Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans estimates the harp seal population this year is about nine million animals, or about four times the size it was in the 1970s.

CO2 Making Scientists Stupider By The Day

The level of moronity is going off scale. Plate tectonics is driven by convection from heat derived deep in the interior of the Earth.

Long-term climate change could be responsible for moving the Earth’s tectonic plates.

A team of scientists based in Australia, France and Germany has established a link between monsoons in India over the past 10 million years and the motion of the Indian plate.

The scientists have found that, as monsoons in the area increased, the plate moved by almost one centimetre a year.

The researchers say it’s the first time climate change has been recognised as having the potential to influence the motion of tectonic plates.

“It is known that certain geologic events caused by plate motions have the ability to influence climate patterns over a period of a million years,” Dr Giampiero Iaffaldano from the Australian National University said in a statement.

“Now we know that the opposite holds as well.

“Long-term climate change, or the natural changes in climate patterns over millions of years, can modify the motion of plates in a feedback mechanism.”

Dr Iaffaldano said the findings could help to reveal more information about the cause of earthquakes.

“Ultimately, we aim at understanding what caused plate motions to change and which regions are currently more prone to large earthquakes,” he said.

“To that end, we may also have to consider the history of climate over the past million years.”

Citizen Thinks He Is Qualified To Understand Temperature

Temperatures are meaningless until processed by GISS.

???????Getting chilly

BY NORM KALMANOVITCH, CALGARY HERALD APRIL 11, 2011

Re: “Planting season delayed weeks by late snow, frost,” April 6.

Unlike global warming, which extends growing seasons, global cooling, which started in 2002, will shorten growing seasons for at least the next two decades.

This delayed planting season is a warning for Canadians to prepare for what is to come, but instead of addressing the real threat from global cooling, Canada is still attempting to meet the ludicrous commitments of the Kyoto accord to address the fabricated crisis of human-caused global warming.

The Liberals ratified Kyoto in 2002 without doing the independent scientific verification that would have demonstrated that global warming resulted from changes in solar activity and not from greenhouse gas emissions, since satellites clearly showed that the enhanced greenhouse effect never occurred.

Stephen Harper, the Alliance party leader at the time, was the only political leader who demanded open scientific debate before adopting Kyoto, but the NDP, Green party and Bloc all supported Jean Chretien in ratifying Kyoto and legislating Canada’s Kyoto commitments. They blindly followed fraudulent IPCC dogma and violated their obligation to the public for proper due diligence.

Today, with looming food shortages from global cooling, Canada produces two billion litres of ethanol as “biofuel commitments” to Kyoto, removing enough wheat and corn from the global food supply to feed more than 33 million people.

Response From Dr. Desai On Wisconsin Temperature Trends

Marc Morano forwarded my post Lies, Damned Lies And Statistics to Dr. Desai at the University of Wisconsin. Below is his response.

Subject: Re: Your claims challenged on temp trend…Lies, Damned Lies And Statistics | Real Science
Marc,
I apologize for the delay in response, and perhaps my reply is old news by now, but I hope I can still have something useful to say.
As a caveat, allow me to first note that I answered the reporter’s questions using numbers provided by the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (http://www.wicci.wisc.edu ) and produced by a detailed analysis of temperature station trends by graduate student Shawn Serbin (Forest and Wildlife Ecology) and Profs. Chris Kucharik (Agronomy Dept) and Dan Vimont (Atmospheric Science). My own research focuses more on understanding how ecosystems respond to climate variability (and vice versa) and I answered the reporter’s question since I happened to be around and as a climate scientist, am well versed in much of this research.
If you’d like I’d be happy to get you a copy of their paper – Serbin, S.P. and C.J. Kucharik, (2009). Spatio-temporal mapping of temperature and precipitation for the development of a multi-decadal climate dataset for Wisconsin. J. Applied Meteorology and Climatology, Vol. 48, 742-757.
So that’s not a cop-out, but just a note that while I support the claims made by WICCI based on my own understanding of temperature trends regionally and globally, that I did not directly produce this analysis and so would need more time to try replicating some of the trends reported in the blog. If you think that would be worthwhile, I could attempt to do so, but it will have to be in several weeks as the end of the semester tends to be a pretty busy time.
My short answer is that – yes indeed it is possible to “cherry-pick” trends and find time periods of a decade or two that stand in contrast to longer-term trends (and vice versa, trends greater than the long-term trend). Natural climate variability on the scale of a decade is well observed and even modeled reliably (in magnitude if not in exact timing given the random nature of much of how these variations are initiated) and reflects a variety of process such as changes in ocean mixing and atmospheric pressure patterns, even fluctuations in solar output. That said, models and observations agree that with continued forcing on the climate system (from any cause), trends become apparent once you average out past a couple of decades (i.e., over several cycles of natural internal variability). A recent paper ran a climate model, for example, over I think a thousand years with continually increased forcing (an unrealistic scenario, but more of a test of the model), and the model never goes more than a decade or so out with significant periods of no temperature increase or cooling.

Wal-Mart Giving Up On Green

Former Al Gore senior aide Leslie Dach dared to dream:

In July 2006, Dach was installed as the public relations chief for Wal-Mart. He drafted a number of other progressives into the company, seeking to change the company’s way of doing business: its culture, its politics, and most importantly its products.

Out went drab, inexpensive merchandise so dear to low-income Americans. In came upscale organic foods, “green” products, trendy jeans, and political correctness. In other words, Dach sought to expose poor working Americans to the “good life” of the wealthy, environmentally conscious Prius driver.

How did that all work out?

After suffering seven straight quarters of losses, today the merchandise giant Wal-Mart will announce that it is “going back to basics,” ending its era of high-end organic foods, going “green,” and the remainder of its appeal to the upscale market. Next month the company will launch an “It’s Back” campaign to woo the millions of customers who have fled the store.

Further from the Wall Street Journal:

Starting in May, Wal-Mart shoppers in the U.S. will see signs in stores heralding the return of fishing tackle, bolts of fabric and other ‘heritage’ merchandise that Wal-Mart reduced or cut out altogether as it attempted to spruce up its stores …

There’s a lesson here for all manner of mass-consumer businesses.
