Holder Scolds Congress For Forcing Obama To Stop Doing Something Incredibly Stupid

Attorney General Eric Holder today blasted Congress for inappropriately interfering in the decision over how to try Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, arguing that a federal trial would have provided the best outcome but that Congress compelled him to move forward with a military commission trial instead.

The attorney general lamented that the Mohammad case, since its beginning, has been “marked by needless controversy.”

“The prosecution of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and his co-conspirators should never have been about settling ideological arguments or scoring political points,” he said.

Holder announced today that Mohammad would be tried in a military commission because political interference had impeded efforts to set up a federal trial and justice for the victims of 9/11 has been “long overdue and must not be delayed any further.”

2005 : Monbiot Exposes Himself As A Clueless Anti-Progress Alarmist

Mocking Our Dreams

Climate change exposes progress as a myth

By George Monbiot. Published in the Guardian 14th February 2005

It is now mid-February, and already I have sown eleven species of vegetable. I know, though the seed packets tell me otherwise, that they will flourish. Everything in this country – daffodils, primroses, almond trees, bumblebees, nesting birds – is a month ahead of schedule. And it feels wonderful. Winter is no longer the great grey longing of my childhood. The freezes this country suffered in 1982 and 1963 are – unless the Gulf Stream stops – unlikely to recur. Our summers will be long and warm. Across most of the upper northern hemisphere, climate change, so far, has been kind to us.

Radioactive Sphere Update

I’ve done some more research on the bright radioactive sphere which appeared in the sky this morning. Radiation from this object can burn your skin in a matter of an hour or two,  and cause cancer. It is expected that tens of millions of people will get cancer as a result of this object, and that billions will suffer burns on their skin.

Here are some shocking actual photographs of victims.

Hiding The Decline In Illinois

Berkeley says the surface temperature record is golden.

Low temperature readings in Olney, Illinois have declined (blue) since 1895. Not to be outdone by mother nature, USHCN has created a rise by subtracting from older temperatures and adding to newer temperatures.

For 19th century temperatures, USHCN subtracts almost three degrees from thermometer readings, and for the 21st century they add more than one degree to the readings. Their generic explanation is found here.

Good thing USHCN and Hansen got rid of this inconvenient cooling problem. “If the present refuses to get warmer, the past must become cooler.”

Agriculture Elevating Land Temperatures

“Heat waves today are different than they were a half-century ago because they are more frequently accompanied by extreme spikes in humidity,” Changnon said. “I strongly suspect that changes in agricultural methods — particularly in the area of corn production — are playing a major role in this by adding more water vapor to the lower atmosphere of the Upper Midwest.”

Higher humidity means higher nighttime temperatures.
