What If That $2.5 Billion Was Spent On Fusion Research?

Instead of wasting $2.5 billion per year on the worst science in the history of man, what if the money was spent to develop controlled fusion power technology?

That would kill two birds with one stone, and also solve the imaginary problem climate scientists claim to be worried about.

14 beheaded in resort of Acapulco in escalating drug gang feud

The decapitated bodies of 14 young men were left outside a shopping centre in the beach resort of Acapulco, Mexico, during a weekend of slayings blamed on rival drug gangs.

The headless corpses were discovered by police in the early hours of Saturday with the severed heads placed nearby. A 15th intact body was also found at the scene. All were men aged between 15 and 30 years old.

The decapitations were the latest in a wave of violence to hit the popular Mexican holiday resort where drug gangs are fighting a bitter turf war.

Handwritten messages left at the scene of the beheadings were signed: “El Chapo’s people”, a reference to the Sinaloa cartel headed by Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán.

Police said the notes indicated that the Sinaloa cartel had killed members of a rival gang for intruding on their turf and attempting to extort residents.

A further 17 people were killed in the region overnight on Friday, including two policemen shot dead as they patrolled a popular beachside area.

Police also discovered the bodies of six people shot dead and piled in a taxi with their hands and feet bound in another part of Acapulco, where the escalating bloodshed is scaring holidaymakers away.

Beheading is a common execution method among warring drug organisations. In 2008, nine decapitated men were dumped in Chilpancingo, the state capital of the Guerrero region and later that year a group of 12 headless bodies were discovered in Merida, the capital of Yucatan state.

At least 30,000 people have died in drug related violence since President Felipe Calderón launched an offensive against the cartels four years ago.

Last week five bodies were found in the northern state of Chihuahua. They included a woman who had been tortured and her decapitated head stuffed into a plastic bag and left beside her body.

Inside The Distorted Left-Wing Mind

Last year, Army Major Nidal Malik Hasan shot 43 people at Fort Hood while shouting “Allahu Akbar!” The press immediately came to the defense of Islam – saying he was a troubled individual acting alone.

In October, James Lee took hostages at gunpoint at the Discovery Communications to protest global warming. He planned to blow everybody up, and the press chose to simply bury this story.

Yesterday, a mentally ill, pot smoking, atheist kid went on a shooting rampage in Tucson, and the press immediately blamed it on Sarah Palin, Christianity, and the Tea Party.

The motive for the attack was unclear, but a former classmate called Loughner a pot-smoking loner who had rambling beliefs about the world. The Army said he tried to enlist in December 2008 but was rejected. It did not say why.

No lawful gun owner would ever promote the unlawful use of a gun, because every time a nut case shoots someone, the lefties try to ban guns. Blaming this shooting on conservatives is just as mindless as everything which comes from the left.

“projections of future climate are unreliable”

Henrik Svensmark, Professor, DTU, Copenhagen

Published 9/9/2009 at. 03:00

In fact global warming has stopped and a cooling is begun. No climate model has predicted a cooling of the Earth, on the contrary. This means that projections of future climate are unreliable, “writes Henrik Svensmark.

The star that keeps us alive, have over the last few years have been almost free of sunspots, which are the usual signs of the Sun’s magnetic activity.

In last week reported the scientific team behind Sohosatellitten (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) ‘the number of sunspot-free days suggest that solar activity is heading towards its lowest level in about 100 years. Everything indicates that Sun is going into a hibernation-like state, and the obvious question is whether it has any meaning for us on Earth.

If you ask the International Panel on Climate Change IPCC, which represents the current consensus on climate change, the answer is a reassuring “nothing”. But history and recent research suggests that it probably completely wrong. Let us take a closer look at why.

“US will be a “bona fide socialist welfare state” by the latter part of this century”

Dambisa Moyo is that rare type of person – an economist who makes waves. Her first book, Dead Aid, angered many in the charity sector by arguing that foreign aid has harmed Africa and should be phased out.

Her second, which is published in London on Thursday, accuses America and other Western powers of squandering their world economic dominance through a sustained catalogue of fundamentally flawed policies.

How the West Was Lost: Fifty Years of Economic Folly – And the Stark Choices Ahead goes so far as to predict that the US will be a “bona fide socialist welfare state” by the latter part of this century.

“Indeed, if nothing else changes it from its current path,” writes Moyo, “it is almost certain that America will move from a fully-fledged capitalist society of entrepreneurs to a socialist nation in just a few decades.

“The trouble is, it won’t be just any socialist welfare state… the US is on a path to creating the worst and most venal form of welfare state [poorly developed and designed] – one born of desperation from many years of flawed economic policies and a society that rapaciously feeds on itself.”

Lovelock : “the sceptics are right to be deeply distrustful of scientists who are overly reliant on computer models”

“What I like about sceptics is that in good science you need critics that make you think: ‘Crumbs, have I made a mistake here?’ If you don’t have that continuously, you really are up the creek.

“The good sceptics have done a good service – but some of the mad ones, I think, have not done anyone any favours. Some, of course, are corrupted and employed by oil companies and things like that. Some even work for governments. For example, I wouldn’t put it past the Russians to be behind some of the disinformation to help further their energy interests. But you need sceptics, especially when the science gets very big and monolithic.”

And the sceptics are right, he says, to be deeply distrustful of scientists who are overly reliant on computer models, particularly when it comes to predicting future climate scenarios: “We’re not that bright an animal. We stumble along very nicely and it’s amazing what we do do sometimes, but we tend to be too hubristic to notice the limitations. If you make a model, after a while you get suckered into it. You begin to forget that it’s a model and think of it as the real world.”

A Planet In The Deep Freeze

Looking at the NCEP forecasts for the third week in January, it appears that essentially the entire planet will have below normal temperatures (including Canada.) Much of it far below normal.

This is what they expected from all the warm oceans, trapped heat, missing ice and snow – and the hottest year ever.

Is Osama Keeping Warm In His Cave?

A few months ago, the world’s #1 terrorist declared his concern about global warming. They are having an extremely cold winter in the mountains of Pakistan, but we appreciate his deep compassion for the planet. At least he isn’t an evil oil company executive delivering fuel to keep us alive.
