Accra, Dec. 27, GNA – The Education Trust Fund of Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharabutu in collaboration with the British Council on Monday organised a workshop for Muslim leaders to create awareness on the significance of climate change.
The programme was on the theme: “The emerging threats of climate change; the role of Muslim leaders in combating the menace.”
Mr Chris Gordon, Acting Director of the Institute of Environment and Sanitation Studies, University of Ghana, Legon said noted that human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of forests for farming were increasing the levels of carbon dioxide and heat, which trapped gases into the atmosphere.
He said climate change affected rainfall, temperature and water availability for agricultural production in vulnerable areas, which resulted to extreme floods, droughts, tropical storms, erosion, saltwater intrusion and loss of land.
Mr Gordon said with predicted changes in temperature, cocoa production would not be possible in Ghana by 2080.

There is no easy way out of tackling climate change despite what they would have us believe. The evidence is clear and the time we have to act is short. To abandon this process now would lead to misery and catastrophe for millions.”
Markey warned against allowing America’s political agenda to be hijacked by the email affair. “We can no longer allow our climate and energy policy to be hijacked by the government of Saudi Arabia, ExxonMobil, and the defenders of the fossil fuel status quo,” he said.

Climate scientists have done an amazing job of dumbing down the entire planet!
The only thing that has been agreed upon in this whole ‘global warming’ business is that scientists and politicians have fudged the numbers for their own political or financial gain.

SCOTLAND suffered its coldest day of the big freeze so far as temperatures plunged almost as low as the South Pole today.
The mercury plummeted to minus 22.3C at Altnaharra in Sutherland this morning – close to the minus 22.9C currently at the southernmost part of the globe.
