CU Professor Forecasts The Demise Of Snow In Colorado

DENVER — A study of two Rocky Mountain ski resorts says climate change will mean shorter seasons and less snow on lower slopes.

The study by two Colorado researchers says Aspen Mountain in Colorado and Park City in Utah will see dramatic changes even with a reduction in carbon emissions, which fuel climate change.

If carbon emissions increase, the average temperature at Park City will be 10.4 degrees warmer by 2100, and there likely will be no snowpack, according to the study. Skiing at Aspen, with an average temperature 8.6 degrees higher than now, will be marginal.

“Colorado mountains could get up to 8 feet of snow”

Monday, December 20, 2010

DENVER — Forecasters are predicting snowfall of “epic proportions” in parts of western Colorado.

The National Weather Service says the top of the Grand Mesa and areas around Crested Butte above 9,000 feet could have 6 to 8 feet of snow by Thursday afternoon. A winter storm warning covering Vail, Aspen, Telluride and Crested Butte lasts through Tuesday night, with wind and heavy snow making it difficult to travel.

On Sunday, Silverton Mountain reported 18 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours at the ski area, while the Crested Butte ski area reported 15 new inches.

While northern Colorado has been getting a lot of moisture this fall, snowpack totals have been lagging in southern Colorado.

Global Warming Caused The Ice Age

Lack of sea ice in the Bering Sea caused modification of air circulation patterns, which in turn led to huge amounts of ice accumulating at Rezko’s Obama’s home in Chicago.

“Global warming is over — at least for a few decades,”

Contrary to the commonly held scientific conclusion that the Earth is getting warmer, Dr. Don Easterbrook, emeritus professor of geology at Western Washington University and author of more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, has unveiled evidence for his prediction that global cooling is coming soon.

“Rather than global warming at a rate of 1 F per decade, records of past natural cycles indicate there may be global cooling for the first few decades of the 21st century to about 2030,” said Easterbrook, speaking on a scientific panel discussion with other climatologists. This, he says, will likely be followed by “global warming from about 2030 to 2060,” which will then be followed by another cooling spell from 2060 to 2090.

Easterbrook spoke before a group of about 700 scientists and government officials at the fourth International Conference on Climate Change. The conference is presented annually in Chicago by the Heartland Institute, a conservative nonprofit think tank that actively questions the theory of man’s role in global warming. Last year the Institute published Climate Change Reconsidered, a comprehensive reply to the United Nations’ latest report on climate change.

“Global warming is over — at least for a few decades,” Easterbrook told conference attendees. “However, the bad news is that global cooling is even more harmful to humans than global warming, and a cause for even greater concern.”
