Conservatives should give more than a passing nod (or smirk) to the award of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar. Many conservative Americans may not share in the disappointment of avid U.S. soccer fans, but this is a mistake. Derision of the game by high-profile conservatives notwithstanding, soccer is a ready-made vehicle for transporting conservative values throughout the world. There is no sport where the conservative principles of self-reliance, independence, and less government are more at play than in the game of soccer.

Many red-blooded, patriotic Americans remain faithful to American football. But as conservatives like to remind liberals, there isn’t less pie when more individuals prosper — the pie just gets bigger. The same will be true in American sports if these real football fans can see fit to allow soccer a respected place our culture.

The AP reports that the Mayans are again affected by climate change – which apparently never happened before – and it is your fault for driving a car.

Julian Assange? has distributed an encrypted “insurance file” with a 256-digit key. I am not sure what algorithm it uses, but a key that long would be almost impossible to break via a random number attack.

In the 1990s, I worked on one of Al Gore’s data encryption schemes for spying on the public’s digital communications. The rumour in the encryption community was that NSA would not allow any algorithm to propagate which does not have a back door approach that is known to NSA.

So Assange may not be quite as well protected as he thinks he is. NSA may well be extracting the guts of the message right now.

Climate models have predicted for years that snow will disappear from these regions.

Joe Bastardi correctly called the brutal European winters the last two years – while the publicly funded climate science community went down in spectacular flames. This fact appears to have driven Joe Romm over the deep end.

Accuweather is very lucky to have one of the few long-range forecasters who actually knows what he is talking about.

When was the last time Europe got hit with a continent-wide massive snowstorm like that? Why aren’t the people in Cancun talking publicly about this? Why is the press ignoring it?

Global sea ice extent is above normal. Polar Bears are not going extinct. 2010 is not the warmest year. Sea level rise rates have not changed since the last century, and are currently much lower than 3 mm/year. Snow is not a thing of the past. The past decade has shown significant cooling. Manhattan is not underwater. Global temperature is controlled by ocean circulation, not CO2.

Do these good people ever tell the truth about anything?
