carbon dioxide is responsible for 80 percent of the radiative forcing that sustains the Earth’s greenhouse effect.

water vapor, although contributing 50 percent of the total greenhouse warming, acts as a feedback process, and as such, cannot by itself uphold the Earth’s greenhouse effect.

Apparently the authors believe that CO2 is a good thing. Nevertheless, this study looks flawed. It doesn’t represent an actual planet Earth.

Richard Heene gets his balloon back

It was one year ago today that balloon boy did not crawl into a balloon and did not fly 70 miles across Colorado

One might be tempted to think that his parents were foolish for trying to pull off such a large hoax, but compared to the global warming perpetrators – Richard Heene is just a beginner (with a lot of potential.)

I’m sure he will be able to find a government agency which can use his skills. After all, his balloon flight was more successful than many of NASA’s efforts.

Colorado has very sensible laws with respect to home defense. As a result, we have a very low rate of property crime.

18-1-704.5 – Use of deadly physical force against an intruder.
(1) The general assembly hereby recognizes that the citizens of Colorado have a right to expect absolute safety within their own homes.
(2) Notwithstanding the provisions of section 18-1-704, any occupant of a dwelling is justified in using any degree of physical force, including deadly physical force, against another person when that other person has made an unlawful entry into the dwelling, and when the occupant has a reasonable belief that such other person has committed a crime in the dwelling in addition to the uninvited entry, or is committing or intends to commit a crime against a person or property in addition to the uninvited entry, and when the occupant reasonably believes that such other person might use any physical force, no matter how slight, against any occupant.
(3) Any occupant of a dwelling using physical force, including deadly physical force, in accordance with the provisions of subsection (2) of this section shall be immune from criminal prosecution for the use of such force.
(4) Any occupant of a dwelling using physical force, including deadly physical force, in accordance with the provisions of subsection (2) of this section shall be immune from any civil liability for injuries or death resulting from the use of such force.

That being said, people need to choose their weapons in sensible fashion. The homeowner on Long Island with an AK-47 was a little over the top. The problem with using a rifle in a neighborhood, is that the bullet will travel right through the criminal into the neighbors house.

Spandex – not for everyone

1. Assume anyone driving a pickup truck is angry and hates cyclists.
2. Assume anyone under the age of 25 behind the wheel of a car is an idiot.
3. Assume any driver with a cell phone is an idiot.
4. Assume that most drivers will accelerate if they see a bicycle approaching a crosswalk.
5. Never, ever wear spandex into a biker bar

Global warming is real. It is predominantly anthropogenic. Left unchecked, it will likely warm the earth by 3-7 C by the end of the century. What should the United States do about it?
