Nukes And Global Warming

I saw this posted on Anthony’s Site

This study suggests that the cause of the stagnation in global warming in the mid 20th century was the atmospheric nuclear explosions detonated between 1945 and 1980.

I have suggested this idea before

The interesting thing about this idea is that if it is correct, Tamino’s period of modern warming is just a rebound from the end of atmospheric testing. The rate of warming since 1940 drops to 0.4C/century.

  1. Andy Weiss says:

For whatever reason, we definitely had a cooling period during a time when CO2 was rapidly rising. The late 70’s and 80’s produced some of the coldest, snowiest weather in history and that was not exactly during the pre-industrial Stone Age. It also was quite some time after we halted atmospheric nuclear testing (1963).

Also, why have we had satellite ice cover measurements only since 1979? The first weather satellite went up in 1960.

While that can be tossed around for the period discussed it does not account for previous warming and cooling variations over the same amount of time in the historic record.
Is it live or is it Memorex?
Was it natural or human caused? I go with primarily natural. Like Ivory Soap it is 99.9% pure! Point 003% human!

  3. Latitude says:

The rate of warming is exactly the same for the time period before CO2….

….my guess is that’s the normal rate of warming
