More Lies

11:02AM BST 04 May 2011

Yet another backtrack and change of tune from the White House has emerged over the fact that Obama did NOT watch the raid live and did not see the moment Osama bin Laden was shot dead. In fact the video feed stopped before US special forces stormed bin Laden’s hideaway.

The White House originally said that President Obama and Hillary Clinton watched the raid as it happened and in effect encouraged the world’s media to report that they had watched “the drama unfold”.

Gathered in the secure Situation Room, deep within the White House, President Barack Obama and his most trusted aides were able to watch the operation unfold in “real time” as US Special Forces stormed the terror chief’s compound in Pakistan and relayed images of the raid back via satellite.
A photograph released by US officials captured the drama as the group watched the world’s most wanted terrorist finally meet his end, the culmination of a 13 year manhunt.

  1. Jim Cole says:

For some big, super-secret “situation room” buried beneath the White House, I can’t help noting how much it resembles a small conference room at a Holiday Inn.

I mean, honestly, just a buncha laptops on a table (with nothing on display!).

Where’s the “Big Board”? [George C. Scott as Gen. Buck Turgidson in “Dr. Strangelove”]

  2. suyts says:

Sigh, they unwatched it?……. so what are these people so intently watching? The helicopters flying? This is just bizarre. Why lie about something this simple? I don’t care if Hillary and or Barrack watched the damned thing or not. What’s wrong with these people and why is there a compulsion to mislead the people?

    • Latitude says:

The media will try to say that “in the heat of the confusion” etc etc……

There was nothing going on here on this end, no confusion, plenty of time….

They just made up a bunch of lies trying to make themselves out to be something they are not, again……………………..

    • Phil. says:

Look Steve chooses to believe what the Daily Mail and the Daily Telegraph made up and makes it appear that it’s what the White House said.
The photo in question was released by the WH on the 2nd with the following caption:
“President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, along with members of the national security team, receive an update on the mission against Osama bin Laden in the Situation Room of the White House, May 1, 2011. Seated, from left, are: Brigadier General Marshall B. “Brad” Webb, Assistant Commanding General, Joint Special Operations Command; Deputy National Security Advisor Denis McDonough; Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton; and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Standing, from left, are: Admiral Mike Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; National Security Advisor Tom Donilon; Chief of Staff Bill Daley; Tony Binken, National Security Advisor to the Vice President; Audrey Tomason Director for Counterterrorism; John Brennan, Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism; and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper. Please note: a classified document seen in this photograph has been obscured. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)”

  3. mkelly says:

Lies are uncalled for in this situration. Maybe they can’t help themselves.

    • Phil. says:

Agreed Steve just can’t help making up false propaganda stories about the Obama administration, lies aren’t appropriate in this situation, Steve should stop telling them!

      • Bruce says:

I believe it is confirmed by the WH Press Secretary that lies were told.

Osama was not armed, his wife was not used as a human shield etc etc.

I think it will turn out almost nothing the WH said is true.

      • mkelly says:

Phil you mischaracterize what I was referring to. I was not talking about Steve. I was talking about the people giving information to the press. My fellow sailor lives were on the line for this and no person high or low should lie about the events.

  4. Latitude says:

But this is a real shot in the foot with their credibility……

  5. Doug in Seattle says:

That’s the thing about this admin. If you don’t like or agree with what one spokesman says, just wait a few hours and you get a new version from another (or even person).

    Very sad for us though!

  6. President Obama was literally pulled from a golf outing and escorted back to the White House to be informed of the mission

    Look at the President’s dress.

    • Dan says:

Not much credibility to this account. The president was playing golf at midnight?

      • This may come as a shock to you, but Pakistan is in a different time zone.

      • Scott says:

I haven’t followed this at all, but I thought it was midnight Osama’s time? Wouldn’t that be mid-late afternoon Obama time?

Like I said, haven’t followed this at all, but seems obvious to me.

        -Scott

      • glacierman says:

        Scott,

It is obvious to anyone who isn’t blinded by reality.

      • Dan says:

Ok, so at about 3pm in DC it was midnight in Pakistan. Events might have been over by 4pm in DC and then 7 or so hours later the President had the DNA corroboration to make his announcement.

      • Scott says:

What does the announcement have to do with this? He was pulled from golf to be updated on the mission…in the middle of the afternoon in DC.

        -Scott

      • Dan says:

In any case, I’m not sure of the significance or reality of this report. His increased allocation of resources two years ago to this project and the entire nation’s focus on special ops teams like this for 20 years (since the Iran hostage crisis) was significant. Finding the compound some months ago was significant. But whether he was playing golf or clearing brush in Texas seems irrelevant.

    • Traitor in Chief says:

Now THAT’s more like the Pretendident we’ve been hearing so much about. A dithering idiot. It’s the Barry, Moe, and Curly show!

Maybe change that to Barry, Joe, and Hilly show! 🙂

  7. Hm how about the deficit?

  8. PJB says:

Since I don’t consider “Hil” to be a woman,

    “Audrey Tomason Director for Counterterrorism”

is the other “token” in the room? Now that’s a situation!

p.s. As the person responsible for counter (as in kitchen, maybe?) terrorism, she is way at the back and can’t hardly see anything…..lol

  9. Scott says:

So basically we know that there are multiple stories being told. The question comes if lies are told from the media or the white house. Don’t have faith in either one, but honestly I’d point the finger at the media first.

    -Scott

    • suyts says:

I would too, Scott, but the inconsistencies are direct quotes from the administration. I’m fairly certain if some parts of the media had an opportunity to clear up the inconsistencies for the administration, they’d jump at the chance.

  10. Nobama says:

    New WH version of events:

Our decisive President was so committed, he decided to do this himself!

Barry, er uh, ahem, Barack rapelled in from his lone chopper hovering in the inky blackness of night. Braving a hail of gunfire from 20 armed guards, the President blasted his way into the compound, kicking open the last door and stepping over the bodies in his wake. Osama! I’m takin you in, dead or alive! What’s it gonna be? There stood Osama, with an Uzi and an AK, who said: You ain’t takin’ me, Kenya boy! …to which the President said: “Make my day!” The two blazed away at 15 feet, and afterwards, the victorious President of Steel calmly tossed Osama’s body over one shoulder and strode confidently back to his waiting chopper.

  11. It's always Marcia, Marcia says:

How many more confusing stories on this event will be coming out?
