It’s A Carbon Fine, Not A Tax

Boxer hints carbon taxcould be part of larger budget deal

A carbon tax could be part of a larger deal on tax and budget, two Senate Democrats who support action on climate change said today.

“I think if it’s part of a larger package, we could look at it,” said Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), when asked whether a carbon tax could eventually be passed as part of a “tax swap,” which would combine a new levy on emissions with a mechanism to return money to consumers.

Obama promised not to tax anyone making less than $250,000, so this must be a breathing fine, rather than a breathing tax.

When an elected official tells you that they plan to return money, you can be pretty certain that your bank account is about to be raided.

Oh great here we go again.

  2. California keeps voting for this woman. They also put Jerry Brown back in a second time as governor. Want to live in a delusional bubble? Come on to California. I’m leaving soon so there’ll be a space open for you.

“I think if it’s part of a larger package, we could look at it,” said Comrade Barbara Boxer (D-Commiefornia), when asked whether farm collectivization could eventually be passed as part of a “land swap,” which would combine a new levy on the bourgeois with a mechanism to return kulaks to gulags.”

What’s the point of taking it, if it’s going to be given back? Re-distribution of wealth in disguise.

    • Billy Liar says:

You obviously don’t understand banking. A percentage of the ‘re-distributed’ wealth goes straight into your giant annual bonus.

  5. Traitor In Chief says:

Maybe she should start with a fine/tax on all Californians for their callous disregard for the Delta Smelt. She could use it for a gold plated pool for the smelt and still have enough left over to cement up the viaduct so evil humans won’t get any Delta runoff.

  7. Will the motivation for this new tax be the global warming coming out of the deep ocean causing extreme weather events?

  8. Eric Simpson says:

Dims like Boxer and O have been pushing the wholesale closure of coal power generating plants because “it’s the right to do.”

Turns out the green nutcases have had the run of the place in India as well, as coal was thrown under the bus, and now power outages lasting several days have affected hundreds of millions of people. There have been similar outages in Pakistan , and wide scale public rioting has ensued.

Looks like Ms. Boxer is trying to pull a page out of Australia’s PM’s book, affectionately known as “Juliar” Gillard. They have just instituted a $23/ton of CO2 tax and the natives are not happy, even though the money is “being returned.” Of course, those returning the money take their cut, the casino always gets a share.

  10. Brian G Valentine says:

I hope they get this passed in time. Mr Obama needs the money desperately!

For example, a campaign strategy such as “If elected to a second term, I’m going to give everybody in America five thousand dollars apiece”

It was a winning strategy for George McGovern, it ought to work here
