According to global warming theory, both poles should get warmer and lose ice. Over the last thirty years, one pole has gotten warmer and lost ice. The other pole has gotten colder and gained ice.
These short term trends do not fit global warming theory. Greenland was warmer in 1940 than it is now.

LONDON (A.P.).-The earth is getting warmer. The oceans are getting deeper. The glaciers are getting smaller. Even the fish are changing their way of life.
All this and more is going on because of a vast, unaccountable, century-by-century change, in climate. In his study at Bedford College in London, Britain’s distinguished geographer, Professor Gordon Manley, is worrying about it.

The Norwegian, Captain Wiktor Arnesen, who has just returned from the Arctic, clains to have discovered an island 12 miles in circumference near the Franz Joseph Island, in latitude 80.40. He says that the island previously was hidden by an iceberg between 70 and 80 feet high, which has melted, showing the exceptional nature of the recent thawing in the Arctic.

Glacier Bay was first surveyed in detail in 1794 by a team from the H.M.S. Discovery, captained by George Vancouver. At the time the survey produced showed a mere indentation in the shoreline. That massive glacier was more than 4,000 feet thick in places, up to 20 miles wide, and extended more than 100 miles to the St. Elias mountain range.
By 1879, however, naturalist John Muir discovered that the ice had retreated more than 30 miles forming an actual bay. By 1916, the Grand Pacific Glacier – the main glacier credited with carving the bay – had melted back 60 miles to the head of what is now Tarr Inlet.

what global warming theory are you referring to? The distribution of land/oceans is significantly different between both hemispheres.
A more recent theory is that the southern oceans have buffered warming in Antarctica so that it hasn’t warmed as fast as Hansen predicted.. Nice theory, but Antarctica is cooling. The polarity is wrong.

Assuming scientists of the past were excellent observers, what melted 30 miles of Glacier bay ice between 1794 and 1879? Up to 4000 ft thick.
Enthalpy of fusion for that ice mass = 6.25 x 10^20 joules, about 9.9 million Hiroshimas.
Where did that energy come from in such a cold cold world, prior to CO2 extremes? We can’t blame the sun. We had several minimums during that era. We can’t blame lack of aerosols, as it was an active volcanic period.
What then?
The models predict warmer winters due to polar amplification, while that is not what has been happening. This modeled result is also refuted by paleo records, which indicate that previous interglacials, that were warmer than the holocene, saw warmer summers in the arctic, not warmer winters.
Further, NH winter and spring snow extent and depth has been increasing, not decreasing. And winters have been getting longer, not shorter. I am talking right now, not 10 or 20 years ago.
The amplified arctic warming is in the arctic in autumn, you cannot simply then say it would mean warmer winter temperature in the NH. It is forecasted to move into winter seasons as the ice continues to diminish however. Though again, that is in the Arctic so you cannot simply state that the entire NH should have warmer winters. In fact, one thing we’ve noticed is that autumn snowfall is happening earlier in autumn over Siberia for example – likely linked to more open water in the Arctic in September.

There has been no trend in the beginning of Arctic freeze.
Since the early 1990’s, climate models have predicted a significant northern hemisphere amplification of warming as we are seeing, and a much smaller amplification in the southern hemisphere.

Jay Zwally , why then is our apple season ending earlier in the fall than it used to ? You guys seem to adjust your predictions as time goes along and then claim your predictions are right . And you have yet to prove that CO2 has been the cause . In fact CO2 has risen a significant amount since 1998 and the temperatures have not responded . And the smaller amplification you speak of in the southern hemisphere must be so small I can not find it . Unless of course you are taking adjustments into consideration . You know , the adjustmants that by chance always increase or even are the total of global warming .
Nothing outside the range of natural variability yet… Arguing that warming in the Arctic is caused by AGW is wishful thinking. In science you can’t just pick one line of evidence and ignore the fact that the other lines of evidence don’t support the hypothesis. If we had ocean warming as predicted by the theory, if we had atmospheric warming as predicted by the theory, if we had increases in atmospheric water vapour as predicted by the theory, if we had the expected mid tropospheric temperature trends as expected by the theory, if we had evidence of polar amplification in Antarctica (even if at a slower rate) *then* Arctic warming would be further confirmation. You can’t declare that 1 out of the 6 basic elements of a hypothesis is consisted with the claim therefore it’s confirmed.
With the science in its infancy the 6 basic elements are certain to grow.
How many inputs are used in the latest models and what weighting are applied to them?
Without a doubt the esteemed climatologists are trying their best to run from the lunacy they’ve created.
The physical-magnetic interactions, along with tropospheric boundary mechanics are bewildering and their weighting on planetary GCM effects aren’t just missing, they’re yet to be defined.
The south pole getting colder while the north pole gets warmer fits in perfectly with the cosmic ray theory of cloud mediation. Read the chilling stars by Svensmark its all in there.
You also need to review the stratwarm physics. These studies began in earnest during the early 1950’s and are still being addressed.
The poles have different patterns, forces and stimulii, some fixed, some dynamic and some unknowns…
